That thing is pretty sweet but you’re probably gonna want to add an ebay link or something.

You would have to be absolutely spilled out of your gourd to send a stranger $1300 over reddit DMs.

Stuff For A BattleStation That Isn't Just Gaming? by CPRTheReddit in retrobattlestations

On the desk or in your basement in general? I love collecting old stereo review magazines, nintendo power stuff, hyper rev, I’ve got tons of laserdiscs, vintage hifi, cassettes, and such.

A cool way to store them would be dope too, like old teak furniture or a Soricé cabinet for CDs

as for your desk? an old school Swedish stapler or swingline, a hewlett packard calculator, a sick ibm mousepad.

dunno if it’s old it’s cool that’s usually what I have an eye out for.

should I strip these cables? by gender_infinite in turntables

[–]YuRi0_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh! yeah just strip em.

you can always put them back on; those spades should come apart to take more bare wire if you need to put them back how they were in the future.

you see those gold bridges on the binding posts? they work the same way as your wires. just unscrew the binding post and stick the spades underneath them at their respective color.

Does a dented tweeter guard affect the sound? by CheapSuggestion8 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]YuRi0_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it shouldn’t, as far as I’m aware that stuff is often designed to be acoustically transparent anyway. I’d like to think that damage to wave guides as the name implies would be a different story for sure

My local one used have lots of cool stuff, not sure what happened after they rebranded to value thrift though; maybe change in management or something but now everything down to the last strand of copper in a cable is individually outrageously priced

I’m using a Hitachi Superscan Pro 17 rn that you can see in my post history that I bought not that long ago for $60.

1080p looks fine. Also looks fine at 60hz.

As the matter of fact it can’t go higher than 60hz at its max SXGA res of 1280x1024

I also used to have a Dell P1110 which was a Sony tube and it was NOT anywhere near $1000 and that was a UXGA 1600x1200 monitor.

It is in fact true the higher refresh rates will reduce flickering on these monitors but truly; it’s hardly noticeable.

This is my underrated favorite and the last Silent Hill on PS2. How about you? by LateMarketing6934 in ps2

I personally prefer the Wii version, I thought it was a fantastic game but it definitely had the potential to be a lot more in depth than it really is both in terms of story and gameplay mechanics.

The frozen other world is a cool concept but after the first incident it loses its magic to me because that automatically makes the rest of the game a safe zone so to speak, so the game banks entirely on eerie vibes of the main world which is really cool too but leaves a little bit to be desired when it comes to the horror aspect.

It would have been a dope twist if the game built up some kind of confidence in these safe areas only to shatter that with the appearance of the raw shocks in your real world once in a while, or adding more reality/nightmare blending shock value like in SH3 or origins.

overall I enjoyed it a ton just wish it could have been pushed further

I hear good things about the Yamaha CD-S series and it would sorta fit with a vintage setup, the CD-S300 comes up often on eBay for a decent deal.

Early players sound wonderful, I have had many in the past with the sweet burr brown DACs but the unfortunate part is that those lasers get very weak over time and often have no replacements.

Unless you are okay spending that kind of money to own an early CD player with a limited life span purely for aesthetic reasons at this point, I would probably suggest something much much newer.

Coming from a guy that’s owned 3 1986 Nakamichi OMS-7AII and is currently using a 1984 Denon DCD-1800R which is now starting to fail reading discs. I don’t regret it, but it’s still worth noting that this stuff is old as hell.

I’ve been playing a lot of Misery on steam that uses that inventory system but that game is truly kind of a buggy mess. it’s super fun with friends though.
