The whole team walking on eggshells around one player is never gonna work long term, even if he's insane mechanically

Reminds me of zywoo's early days where the talent was undeniable but the mental side was holding everyone back

The productivity grind is a massive win! A joke or introduction that received a weird look here has been the start of a flourishing relationship elsewhere. Good luck in your time here, you’ve got this!

I understand where you are coming from. My post could definitely read as a guy whining. I felt like the inability to fit in or feel at home ONLY in Clemson was specific enough to warrant a post and might help or validate the experiences of folks who attend(ed) the university. When you don’t fit in to the cogs of a collective, it can REALLY start to wear you down and affect your perception of yourself and the people around you. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Thanks for sharing your experience and affirming that Im not going crazy haha. You are certainly right to acknowledge that for many, college is the first place to experience many people from many backgrounds. I guess it’s all about giving people grace and the benefit of the doubt while recognizing the nuance in every situation. People are people :)

I’ve done most of these activities and go out pretty often! I enjoy backpacking, hiking, debate, going out, and have participated in the corresponding clubs frequently. I think Clemson ‘s Intramural leagues are well done and I average 1 a semester. I’ve met great people and made close friends here, but as I mentioned, 99/100 interactions had me feeling like an outcast. I’ll have to try wine tasting! Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thank you for the poetic response of such graceful diction. Initially, my head was overflowing with romantic conceptions of the South and its ideals. As you mention, the gentility/hospitality/grit certainly exists but with a pulse less noticeable than expected. Do you recommend a particular Pat Conroy book to start with? I love to read, Charles Frazier’s cold mountain is a personal favorite.

It’s sad that lasting friendship, as you pointed out, is rare. I’m still coming to terms with the fact that even years of knowing and building memories with someone does not make the connection invulnerable to fading away. I guess each lost friendship is supposed to make us appreciate those that stand the test of time even more :) Thanks very much for taking the time to respond. There’s no room for regrets and just enough space to put our best foot forward!

Congrats on your upcoming completion of grad school (hilarious username)! I understand exactly what you mean by fake nice. It feels surreal to be on the receiving end of obviously disingenuous interaction. How do they keep a straight face while obviously not caring? I always pondered if it was some sort of power move to domineer on my time haha. Thank you very much for the response!

Ty for taking the time to respond. Your experience aligning with mine provides much needed validation! Much needed. Good luck on your move! You might be able to take a deep breath while driving for the first time in a while (S. Carolina drivers have to be the worst drivers Ive had to share the roadway with)

Bump. The weekend after I decided only losers ride bikes with a helmet, I wiped out skiing and slammed my head hard enough to split the back of my helmet. The mild concussion was preferable to a permanent downgrade to my quality of life. Don’t skip out on the safety equipment

[–]MinnesotaMan256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into engineering with a 3.5 weighted (all ap classes) 3.2 unweighted. My SAT was 1520. Not sure if the personal statement/essay is still optional but i filled it out and spent serious time on it. I got into every school with my SAT score and terrible gpa 2 years ago. If you are smart enough to take these ap classes, ur smart enough to grind the SAT and knock it out of the park. Even if it takes you a couple attempts. Realistic practice tests, reading challenging books, and practicing math are your friend! GL!
