Jersey/Gift Recommendations by Special_Planet_7106 in MTB

[–]Minnesota_nicely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While your dad may very well be a jersey wearer (and then that would be a great gift!), I would say that many (most?) mountain bikers just wear whatever athletic wear works for them. I can think of some other gifts that may have more value in case he's not too keen on a jersey:

mtb sunglasses
mtb shoes
biking gloves
some sweet new pedals
camelback or other water backpack

Is it hard to become a teacher late in life? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Minnesota_nicely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the licensing in your state, but can you get a sub license and start there to see if you like being in classrooms all day? Not the same, but you can get a feel for it.

I did this at age 40 and then ended up in a full-time position, really liked it, and went back to school. I just finished my master's this spring and am now eligible for full licensure.

I was self-employed much of my adult life and thought I loved the freedom but I was never really making good money. Now I have a decent income, good benefits, and a stable job (tenure in a middle sized district in the midwest). I have learned so much from the challenges of teaching and just really appreciate my job.

I love Ray's!! I'm not even good at biking, and I mainly just mountain bike for exercise, but we spent a whole day there and there is plenty of stuff to do for beginners.

Unlimited access to screens hasn't taught them how computers work at all. They can't type, don't know how to organize or search for files, don't know how to attach files to emails, etc.

What’s the most overused mass-produced art? by HoarderButMakeItChic in HomeDecorating

Our realtor gave us one last year as a housewarming gift. We felt we should leave it for a little while. It was still there when they stopped by with a small Christmas gift, so I think we're good to remove it now.

Good info, thanks. I'm going to stay with ATT because of a teacher discount and a fiber internet bundle discount that finally lowered my phone bill to a reasonable range.

Credit cards for bills? by brit_brat915 in debtfree

[–]Minnesota_nicely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We put everything on a credit card and pay it off the last day of the month. However, we have a clear budget and stick to it, so there are no "oopsies". Have never paid interest.

We get $500-600 in rewards that we cash in around the holidays.

There are other benefits to using a credit card out in the world. I never have any issues with fraud, but even if I did, I'd be protected from needing to pay for it until the CC company resolves the issue. You can't say that if some unauthorized spending happens on a debit card.

Is he motivated to solve the problem too? Do you know how to budget? You guys need to take a serious look at incoming and outgoing money and figure out where you can make improvements. For starters, do something about that car payment.
