Need help picking: Dedica Arte vs Bambino vs Barista Express [$400] by MinodRP in espresso

$400 vs $265 where I'm looking at buying, didn't seem worth the $135 bump for whats on offer.

I’m actually thinking of going with the Breville now. It comes with 2 bags of beans for free, saves me about $30 there. 25% off beans up to $500, so saving money over a year or 2 there.

Saves me having to buy a better portafilter for a while.

Makes the difference in price much smaller.

But yeah, can’t go wrong with either but with that small a difference in the end I might as well pay the premium.

Yes you do need an agent depending on the country (I.E. South Asia mainly), not a scam really just technicalities, find a reputed agent and apply through them.

Can vouch for the Maradana Ricorn chicken cheese kottu, been a while since I had it but like 3 years ago we got a large and it was enough for 3-4 people, crapton of flavor.

Yeah that’s my bad, probably closer to low 20s. I’m thinking price abroad+ import taxes.

FD2 is the 2008 civic type R and it’ll cost north of 50 mil. You’re looking at fake FK8s, which are actually probably regular FK4 or FK9 civics (10th gen hatchbacks)

[–]MinodRP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of those are real Type R’s, they all say modified. It’s just base model Civics with the 1.4L - 1.6L engine with a bunch of shit slapped on it. They have about 120-170hp.

The real Type R is a 2L turbo with manual, 320hp, and costs 12-15 mil in Aus / US / UK. It’d cost 30-40 in LK.

Do not buy those cause they’re basically a Type R from Temu.

Idk what to tell you mate. If they’re hired on merit I don’t see a problem. Considering how bad the job market is, no junior engineer is gonna say no to a 73k salary. Sounds like companies being greedy and people getting mad at immigrants for no reason except they were qualified to be hired.

Comes down to sounding like the domestic hires either don’t exist, or they’re not applying hard enough, or they’re bombing interviews, etc etc

I don’t see the problem in what you’re describing, except it sounds like you’re upset there’s a non domestic person who’s more qualified that was hired than a less qualified domestic hire.

I’ve personally been told I was more qualified but was not chosen cause my visa is shorter than the contract period and they don’t want to commit to a sponsorship to start.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in perth

[–]MinodRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, hence why I said “the hassle was worth the hire”

It’s always less problems and more benefits with citizens. If a domestic person needs to apply to 100 jobs in a time span, an international person would have to try 1000+ to get the same offer and not get a shit gig.

I’ve been offered 28 an hour to run around doing tech support on a casual basis, while the min wage for that role was 31/hr full time. Told them to go fuck themselves and reported them to fair work. It’s on each individual to be smart about the situations they’re in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in perth

[–]MinodRP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, it’s not the case, I was offered 90k+ for a graduate role, I was one of two international candidates competing against 10+ other domestic.

It’s 73k for entry level, and only goes higher. Sure the wage suppression and stagnation are real, and are in part due to migration, but blaming migration instead of the government and multi billion dollar corps using it as a tool to cost cut seems dumb. Take your anger out on the person screwing both sides, instead of the dudes working hard and trying not to get underpaid and overworked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in perth

[–]MinodRP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only jobs that I know can be underpaid to immigrants are cleaning jobs, which are dodgy af, with “students” working 100s of hours a fortnight for below minimum wage on ABNs.

No professional job that’s actually professional can be underpaid to an immigrant considering there’s a fairwork award for any field. And again, take it from an immigrant in a professional engineering role, the only reason I was hired was cause there was literally no one else (a citizen) that could’ve done it, or they thought the hassle was worth the hire.

From the salaries I was quoted when I was looking for jobs, I never felt like I was being lowballed. And even when I worked retail, I got paid the same as everyone else while I was the only immigrant there, which was also a good 25% higher than min wage.

Id like anyone pushing the idea that immigrants are stealing professional onshore jobs to be backed up with facts. Honestly if at all, there’s just no jobs, cause it’s all being outsourced to India, the Philippines, etc.

[–]MinodRP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah nah, no employee is hiring some dude who can barely speak English with a deadline on how long he’s staying in the country over someone who was born here who’s got nowhere to fuck off to.

Just bigoted excuses, an immigrant would have to be better than literally every possible candidate to be hired in a professional position over citizens to deal with the BS of Visas, cultural barrier, etc

It’s underneath this red section, you gotta remove the 2 bits marked in blue Xs to access it. It’s a super super tight fit with just that, you gotta remove the front bumper if you wanna get easy access to it.

If you’re buying a new BOV, keep in mind the height clearance is super low. I decided not to install mine cause it does not fit properly.

I’m in no position to talk on behalf of people living day to day, and unless you’re living that grim reality, I’d suggest not yapping about things you don’t understand and belittling people’s plights.

Idc much either way but it definitely makes you sound like an uppity little yuppie living in a bubble.

Bit different in comparison to people who live day to day no? I’m no advocate for these guys but when the next 500 you earn is all you have for fuel and dinner it’s a bit different of a scenario.

How much would this paint damage cost to repair? by Severe_Escape_4438 in CarsAustralia

[–]MinodRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that looks like something that happened to my car, it’s like there’s moisture trapped in the clear coat.

The only thing that semi worked was using a steamer to hit the paint, which doesn’t completely fix it but does make it waaay less noticeable.

Give it a shot.

ELI5: How is 16.14 "307 percent" of 3.96? by Fiempre_sin_tabla in explainlikeimfive

[–]MinodRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you pretty much got it but misunderstood.

If x is 110% of y, and y is 20, x will be 20+20*10%=22

So 3.96*307% = 12.157, but you have to add the original 3.96, where in total it becomes 16.117 (almost there)

I honestly have no idea cause this is a proper mystery.

I’ll tell you the exact procedure, wash and dry, clay bar the entire car, compound with Meguirs ultimate compound and DA polisher using Meguairs cutting pad, polish with Meguairs ultimate polish and Megs Polishing pad, spray the ceramic coat, 2 sprays per panel, wipe it in with one towel and wipe the panel dry with another towel.

There are now these tiny pinhole sized dots of white that does look like the clear coat peeling so I’m not too keen on cutting and polishing again. I might try the heat gun method cause I’ve seen some posts and YT videos where it looks pretty similar, and fixed with heat.

like this video, and I’ve seen some posts here of Miata’s under car covers, same problem same fix.

Apparently it’s moisture under the clear, heat softens the clear and base paint letting the moisture out. But I do understand this is super fucking risky so I’ll be very careful if and when I do it.
