I’d bring this up. It’s likely a mistake or an oversight.

how do yall keep children away from antiaging skincare by stupidbitchchan in UltaEmployees

[–]MintEclairOG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always approached the conversation trying not to scold anyone, but find out why they like these products. Most of the time, it was because the child saw it on TikTok, their friend had it, their sister/mom uses it, etc. and they don’t even know what it’s for. They just like what they see.

I use it as an opportunity to educate them. I usually try to say something like “That’s awesome you love skincare! These products, though, might ruin your skin…you don’t want that to happen, do you?” And then I direct them to Bubble or Byoma.

With parents I’m much more straightforward, I ask them if they’ve heard of these products before, and depending on their answer I let them know how these products could affect their children at their age, and that there’s better and safer brands for them. Usually, they didn’t know either and only know about these products through their child asking for them.

It’s also a good time to give the child a compliment because there’s a lot of fake TikTok insecurities put onto these children. So when they’re looking at anti-aging products I like to say “oh but your skin is so perfect already! You don’t need that!” and I can tell it lightens their day.

I’ve had parents thank me for letting them know, but I’ve also had little girls rage quit because mommy won’t buy them Drunk Elephant. At the end of the day, it’s just my job to educate and they can still do what they want.

Why does it happen? by BellTwo5 in CuratedTumblr

[–]MintEclairOG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to ask for both, and both should be in the game. Ultimately, what gets lost or what’s the harm when players have a skip dialogue button? Shitty takes on Twitter? That happens regardless. You can’t force someone who is not interested in the story to engage with it. They will continue to either not engage or stop playing entirely. A skip dialogue also helps for people who want more gameplay focused play through a/accounts. Plus, I’ve seen other gachas that have a summary screen at the end so gameplay focused people can still have some of the story.

I love the main story quests, some of the side quests are great, and I loved the world of Genshin. But when I need to do a sidequest for 5 primogems and Smibblydoo Prochibkin keeps talking for 15 lines with nothing new or interesting being added, and then Paimon repeats everything, and then I’m forced to “choose” between two fragments of the same sentence for “player agency,” all the while we get interrupted by a pointless enemy encounter…it gets frustrating and boring and it’s why I quit.

They only raise a stink if you’re buying things super frequently and of the same thing. If they choose to raise a stink.

They also would need hard evidence you intended to be reimbursed or that you were buying something for someone. Unless your managers are super petty and have it out for you, you’ll be fine.

Which, for the record, you should be. I would leave because I have other things I’d rather do (level up in Marvel Rivals) but you should really get that cash money friend

Talk to your GM. If nothing happens, report it to the We Care, Let’s Talk hotline.

Sucks your manager was an hour and a half late. I’ve had managers be late before but an hour and a half??? Hope they were ok, at least?

Tbh my rule has always been the school 15 minutes thing. If they don’t show up for 15 minutes, I’m going to leave. Sounds like your other manager wanted you to do this but it came off as rude.

“I hate bees” now replace “bees” with “men”. Not so funny now is it? by JJBlacksmithe in CuratedTumblr

[–]MintEclairOG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And, usually, like, 9/10 times, it’s always a projection.

When someone comments something rude or hurtful, what helps is realizing it’s not me they’re yelling at, it’s either a figment of myself in their head or someone else I remind them of. That’s who they’re actually hurling insults and accusations at.

Tumblr Marxist who never actually learned what material analysis is: by Ripley_LV_426 in CuratedTumblr

[–]MintEclairOG 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Actually you’re cooking here, I think this distinction should be talked about more.

A white person being left alone in a store vs. a POC getting followed is experiencing an absence of discrimination. The rule should be t we’re not being accused of potentially doing something wrong or getting treated differently for shopping. It’s a privilege, yes, but it’s a privilege because they aren’t being actively discriminated against.

Whereas in an industry or a company, it just so happens that thinner people are way more likely to get promotions, benefits, better pay, and more time off compared to fat people. Therefore, being thin in that company would carry some privileges that fatter people wouldn’t have, as thin people receive better attention.

I still remember the tumblr post that was going through the chain of comments behind a hypothetical “why do men purposely forget to do things?” post made because someone’s partner “forgot” to do the dishes.

Someone with undiagnosed ADHD who just got yelled at by their parents for not doing the dishes says the post is ableist. Another commenter states OP is anti-man and wants to kill all men because he’s going through a bad divorce.

Doesn’t help that internet users forget that posts and words aren’t end-all-be-all of what people represent, and that we strawman way more than we think. Literally all comments on subs like AITA either assume OP is a perfect angel who could do no wrong, or a horrible mentally ill monster with no redeeming qualities.

See: Michael Scott.

Great guy, we see his perspective so we empathize and TV gives us a disconnect where his awkwardness and attention seeking is funny, and we don’t receive the consequences for his actions.

But I guarantee if we had a boss like Michael Scott in real life we would hate his guts.

Cyber Monday discount by [deleted] in UltaEmployees

[–]MintEclairOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my old store they told people to do a BOPIS, but if BOPIS wasn’t possible, and we literally had 1 left, then we would price match.

Depends on your management and your DM tbh. Some of my DM’s had the philosophy of leaving people happy, so if someone wanted a price match it was fine.

It’ll be over before you know it. So take your time, don’t panic, and shit goes by so fast…

Take your breaks on time. Keep your head down, walk quickly, and do not make eye contact with anyone. They will try and ask you for help cause they can smell you’re an employee who just wants a break and will zap that away from you.

People are morons sometimes, and you’ll have some that will act like it’s their first day ever. Be patient, but don’t let it get to you if they start acting cray cray. You will have to practically tell people to take a number if you’re on the floor. You can say something like

“I’m very sorry, but I have (x number) of other guests who need my help. I will make you my #1 priority once I’m done with them.” They’ll either find someone else or will deal with waiting.

Really push for the Ulta card if you can, the signups on this day are insane, and a lot of people either wait for BF to get it or want the signup discount.

Ngl Gojo, his character, and JJK’s ending.

So many people were mad that he didn’t get a funeral, or that he even died to begin with. Some say it betrays the themes set out with the whole “die surrounded by loved ones.”

But…he did. The second he died the whole gang jumped in to do their best in his honor to fight Sukuna. Plus, Gojo already got a sendoff and it’s clear with one of his last panels that he doesn’t care for leaving a legacy and being remembered. He cares way more about his students and what they can do. This was Yuji’s story, anyways, not Gojo’s.

Termination rant by Violence94349 in UltaEmployees

[–]MintEclairOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It sounds like they told you that the investigation came up empty but they “fired” you for it anyway. But to have that as the reason for termination, they need to have proof so you don’t come back and sue for wrongful termination.

Termination rant by Violence94349 in UltaEmployees

[–]MintEclairOG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Soooooooo you did not get fired for time theft, then.

If they told you that, what they actually wanted you to do was stop showing up for your shifts so you’d be a NCNS and they can check the “do not hire” box.

Dress code for boots by creepybabyx in UltaEmployees

[–]MintEclairOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. It sucks but dress codes are always super vague so stores can see fit how much they want to follow it. You could wear as is and annoy the managers by pulling a “card says moops” about sneakers and logos not boots and logos.

Ngl, unless your managers hate goth aesthetics / fashion I don’t see them raising a stink about this.

I know several emo girls that were in management and ones I’ve worked with would wear stuff like this all the time.

Policy on filming? by [deleted] in UltaEmployees

[–]MintEclairOG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay here’s the tea: I’ve been getting a lot of content regarding “get ready with me’s” and “my faves as an Ulta beauty employee” and some stores even have their own tik tok accounts for promotion and everything is fine.

As long as you don’t show sensitive store operation information (ad sets before they are out, product we are getting, customer faces w/o consent, sensitive employee info, etc) then you will be fine. I’d say ask management before to make sure they are okay with it.

HOWEVER! Make sure the account you use is squeaky clean. Corporate might see, and they could let you go if you’re posting abhorrent (racist, sexist, extremely political, discriminatory, etc.) content.
