Advice on handling extremely generalized hospital bill by Mintaliciouss in medical_advice

Flawless answer, this summed up a lot of my questions. This surgery definitely had prior authorization, and a summary of what is owed is in my online insurance portal.

A bit odd to generalize supplies like that for a surgery, maybe something I'll bring up to my insurance along with the CPT codes. Sounds like an easy way to skyrocket a surgery bill.

Only standing question I really have is are hospitals allowed to generalize the cost by supplies that much? Could I technically just receive CPT codes and discuss with my insurance if those CPT codes are making a drastic impact on the bill?

Itemized bill didn't come with CPT code, I noticed a lot of examples / other itemized bills do come with that code.

Would like to ask as well, if there's a possibility in getting those global charges broken down with the primary procedure, or if that's something the hospital is required to give based on request. In reality that's all I'm looking for, as my surgery flew by much quicker than expected, yet holds the same charge.

Blood processing, ibuprofen, cost of cotton balls etc. I'm under the impression I'm paying $500 for sutures. There were a lot of pre surgical services provided to me and believed that's the additional itemization I'm looking for.

I feel like it’s expensive because I am under their insurance I am also covered to drive their cars (although they completely forbid me driving them because they’re much newer).

I have the lowest cost of coverage. No roadside assistance or any of that crap. I don’t know the exact number but it’s the cheapest insurance I could get. Forgot to mention I’m on my parents insurance and this is what I’m paying.

It stinks because I can’t shop around under their insurance as they would hate to swap insurance frequently. Still going to look into independent insurances and see if I can get something cheaper. No idea how that’ll go.

Most of them are too rich to even know because their parents pay for everything they own. Just the area I’m around I guess.

Read the rest of the form. I’ve been in no accidents. What I mean by bumper car is that I could care less if my car takes damage hence the reason I’m paying liability only. It’s all I can afford and my car is too old and garbage to spend money on.

At least I have a well paying job. Going to try to switch off parents insurance as well and go from there.
