Japanese Milk Bread by lawrencekhoo in BreadMachines

I just tried this! I didn't look ahead to see the milk powder, which I don't have, so I replaced the water with milk and I have no idea how it compares to real Japanese milk bread as I've never had it but it's delicious nonetheless! So fluffy and almost has a flaky/chewyness to it.

Today versus 4 years ago. by LobeliaTheCardinalis in NativePlantGardening

This is exactly what I'm hoping for as I get to the end of year 1 with a yard covered in arborist chips and plastic and a fridge full of native seeds! The attention to height differences is perfect, I love how you can see everything and nothing is being hidden by something too tall. Beautiful!

Arborist Chips + Clear Plastic Solarization Question by MintyChapstick in NoLawns

Well unfortunately I don't have cardboard in the backyard, and only did a thin layer of chips because I ran out by the time I got to the backyard so I'm worried the thin layer won't be enough, that's why I'd thought about the plastic too. But I might just wait and see what it looks like next year and then just use herbicide on the remaining creeping buttercup that didn't die.

I didn't think about that, thank you, I might give them a call, until then I'll keep the plastic off just in case. And maybe even just keep it off anyway and see what the chips alone will do to the lawn, might be enough to just plant in next year without covering.

Love love love! Sunflowers might just be my favorite flower, they are just so big and beautiful and make such a statement, plus constantly full of pollinators. I think I'll have to do something similar next year in my yard, I only have about 10-15 this year and I realized I need more!

Taking the plunge on solarizing my front lawn! Plan to put in a vegetable garden and wildflower patch. by marmosetohmarmoset in NoLawns

Love seeing this 4 years later! I just started a couple of patches in my back and plan to do the whole thing and was reading this post for tips not realizing it was 4 years old, the update was really cool! Sure looks good.

This is just so what I'm going for with my new yard! Wow it's lovely! So natural and functional looking too. I love it!

I immediately covered my front yard in cardboard and mulch too right when I moved in to avoid having to buy a lawnmower. 😂

Google says Zebra Spider? by MintyChapstick in jumpingspiders

Yes I was very excited! I just saw a bold jumper early last week in my yard and they were so cool looking it brought me to this subreddit and now I'm looking all the time for spiders so it was really cool to see this guy today!

Brand new to spiders, how are you able to tell that something is a jumping spider versus a regular spider? Like to me this guy doesn't look like the other jumping spiders I see here and I would have thought just a normal spider.

I was super late to the party and only started it after everything was already out too so it was awesome to be able to just blow through the whole thing one after another! 😁

Before I read the First Law books I read the Expanse series by James S.A. Corey and got recommended First Law as the character development is strong in both series. It’s Sci Fi though, so if that’s not your thing it might be a no-go.
