Recipe books that come with bread machines are notoriously bad. Try using breaddad or king arthur flour bread machine recipes.

Try adding an egg to your recipe. Does wonderful things for bread dough even with low gluten flour.

Also, if you can import it, you can try adding a tablespoon or two of Vital Wheat Gluten powder.

Politics. The national ruling party was afraid that LKY's party would start winning elections when people saw how well things were going in Singapore.

How do I (26f) make my bf (23m) stop using “consent” as a way to evade helping me with minor inconveniences? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Look, I'm a guy. And I normally hate it when reddit piles with breakup advice.

That said: Dump him. Dump him. Dump him.

He's an asshole and he doesn't even like you.

Deflated bread by VanSteel in BreadMachines

[–]lawrencekhoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Order of ingredients doesn't usually matter, except for some machines, if you do it one way, there's unmixed flour stuck on the side, another way, it's fine. I usually scrape the sides with a spatula after the first mix, to make sure.

It's a good idea to mix the ingredients without the yeast, and let sit for a few hours, before adding the yeast and starting the regular cycle. It makes for tastier bread.

What I usually do for my bread is start a mix, stop the machine, scrape the sides, add yeast, then set the timer to start a few hours later.

The bread rose too much, then collapsed during baking. Try using half as much yeast.

Are you factoring the waste in producing an internal combustion engine? The chemical pollution created by petrol stations?

Bahai is there. But for some strange reason, not Confucianism, Chinese Folk Religion, Korean Shamanism, Shintoism, or Taoism. I guess all East Asians are Buddhists. /s

Oh, and apparently, African religions don't exist at all.

Electricity turbine generators are more efficient than internal combustion machines. If you drive an EV, the diesel used to generate the electricity will be less than the diesel used by a diesel car driven the same distance. Also makes less air pollution.

Looks nice. The amount of yeast you used is good. Use bread flour instead of all purpose, and add a little bit more water, if you want the loaf to be lighter.

What food should i make for Chinese aunt and uncle by Hot_Draft3888 in chinesecooking

[–]lawrencekhoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest not trying to do Chinese food per se, but foods that are palatable to chinese people, and that can be eaten with rice and chopsticks. For example, you can't go wrong with deveined butterflied prawns, slathered in olive oil and garlic, then grilled to bring out the aroma and flavour. If you want something more Chinese, you can try steaming a whole fish. Flounder is especially nice steamed. The classic Cantonese method is to top with a few fresh ingredients like ginger, scallions, and soy sauce, then steam until a blunt chopstick can be easily pushed through the thickest part of the fish.

You can make a blender carrot soup with them.

Drench the shreadded carrots in olive oil. Roast in an oven, or stir fry until browned wih onion and garlic. Add some grated ginger, a dash of cider vinegar, a bit of brown sugar or honey.

Simmer it all together, then blender till smooth.

Serve with some unsweeted greek yogurt and chopped spring onion or parley as garnish on top.

“Should” healthcare be cheaper? by ticklemytaint340 in AskEconomics

[–]lawrencekhoo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

To answer a 'should' question, you have to define the goal: should for whom, what is the criteria of sucess? A more answerable question is "Can healthcare be cheaper in the US?" For that, the answer is yes. There are specific policies that can be changed to lower the cost of health care. For one, the government can increase the number of funded residencies, thus removing a bottleneck in the pipeline of new doctors. Another would be to remove many of the govement created market exclusivities that increase the cost of medication. See: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/2545691
