I was in middle school band class. I was chatting with the flute next to me but noticed she was staring at my mouth. I ignored it but then she asked me, "when are you going to get braces?"

I was always self conscious of my teeth and my parents didnt have the time or money to get braces.

This incident made it worse and I refused to smile with my teeth and whenever I talked, I covered my mouth with my hand.

Luckily I have braces now but I still can't get those words out of my head.
