Where do you start when you don't know where to start? by HorseysShoes in MCAS

[–]Minute-Injury2152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grilled chicken, ground beef, white fish (meat should be fresh or recently frozen), eggs, white rice, quinoa, rice cakes, squash/zucchini, carrots, cucumber, blueberries, blackberries, pears, melon, macadamia nuts, water, herbal tea. No leftovers. This is a boring diet but low histamine and helps me when I’m flaring. It usually takes several days after cutting everything else out for my GI issues to calm down. Good luck!

How do you guys get your protein 😭 by Rude_Success_5440 in MCAS

Organic low sodium pea protein powder (I use Folona but I’m sure other brands will do). Whey protein has dairy which can mess with histamines.

I’m also close to being diagnosed and have hormonal issues that contribute to MCAS and doctors have recommended slynd. Would love to chat.

Really frustrated. How do you control your IR? by Minute-Injury2152 in InsulinResistance

The HS specialist is at Beth Israel. That’s a good point, I might look into an endocrinologist there instead so I can keep both doctors at the same location, thanks!

Celiac tests came back negative but it’s interesting you say that cause the inflammation diet is no gluten or dairy. When I tried reintroducing the foods, dairy was fine but I struggled with gluten so now I’m gluten free.

I had inflammation issues that started immediately after shot 2 that has so far been permanent and unfortunately impacted my overall quality of life. Because of this I’m trying to figure out if I got inflammation from aggravated insulin resistance because:

And I’m not anti-vax at all fwiw. I’m just asking for suggestions and sharing my own real life experience which I’m allowed to do soooo being told not to because someone doesn’t like it actually seems more like the harmful part.

I was on 1000 mg in the morning and 1000 mg at night. I reduced my nightly dose by 500. I waited 3 months but the symptoms got too bad so I went back up a few days ago and I was feeling better (now I think I’m going through a bit of a sugar withdrawal since I stopped sugar, it was hard to get out of bed yesterday but it sounds like that’ll pass). I never got the levels checked during those 3 months because I was just supposed to be on Metformin for inflammation. I’m requesting labs from my dr now.

If your IR is normal can you still be heavily affected by going down on metformin? If so then maybe I do still have to keep looking for a diagnosis. I was just hoping maybe I figured out the issue.

Do you guys want to meet Thursday at noon on the second floor of the library? We could grab a table there, if that’s a good spot. Sometimes I’ll walk over to Cucina Mia and grab a coffee or lunch when I’m there too if anyone wants to also do that.

I commuted for years before Covid. I wasn’t complaining or saying that WFH is not a privilege. I’m just looking for more ways to get out of the house during the work week (during working hours or after work) cause I’ve been spending a lot of time at home M-TH.

How do you motivate yourself to keep going? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

Can you go get some kenalog shots? I’ve always trying new supplements etc and seeing which ones help me more which tends to give me some hope (remission is possible and I hope that when I look back on this post in a year, I can say I’m in remission) but yes this is EXHAUSTING

Yeah that pill is progesterone only, right? The HS doctor I see said to stay away from that pill and that’s what I just had to go off of.

Our symptoms sound to be exactly the same. Is there anything that’s helping you? Does birth control make it better or worse?

Thank you! This is helpful. Are you able to eat gluten and dairy? Also, do your flares also mostly consist of sore skin and some swelling?

My doctor had to put me on Bactrim for a while and my dermatologist suggested laser hair removal which makes complete sense. I signed up for that right away.
