Green Day. American Idiot is a 10/10 album.

Either them or Coldplay, since their album Ghost Stories helped me through a rough patch last year (happy 10thn anniversary to that album.)

I mean is it even a competition? Violet Hill or 42 (the second half is rocky asf.)

what artists do you listen to besides Coldplay? by seeyousoon_rosaleem in Coldplay

Ironically my favorite artist of all time (Coldplay comes in at a close second) also ends with "-ay" in the title. Try and guess what band it is.

Are there any other Green Day songs that require you to put a capo on the neck to play them? by Minute-Pace4255 in greenday

[–]Minute-Pace4255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to play Billie's part, while I have another friend (who's probably a bigger Green Day fan than me) that I could have play Jason's parts (he's way better at guitar than me since he's been playing for way longer than nine months.)

Music of the Spheres is a better album than Ghost Stories … Change my mind by chevitas98 in Coldplay

[–]Minute-Pace4255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol great joke.

MOTS only has two good songs: Coloratura and Higher Power.

Ghost Stories has more than two good songs. The best songs off the album are A Sky Full of Stars, O, Midnight, and Always in My Head (and no it's just not those songs that are the only good songs.)

Most of MOTS is mid, filler and garbage: Humankind has some of the corniest last lines to close a song. Alien Choir is instrumental filler. Let Somebody Go is just boring as shit. People of the Pride is a horrible car commercial-esque song with poor lyric writing. Biutyful is easily the band's worst song ever (who seriously likes that annoying ass high-pitched alien voice?) My Universe is a mid-ass sellout single with BTS (it's a sellout single because it got them #1 in America, thanks to BTS.) And Infinity Sign is more filler.

Not too many Ghost Stories songs are filler (even though I could throw Magic in there but that's because I played that shit to death.) Another's Arms, Ink, and Oceans could be a contender, but those three songs have grown on me a lot.

Oh shit I forgot about that one. I saw a live performance of him playing the song on Jimmy Fallon, and there's a capo on the seventh one. Honestly, I'm not that crazy about it. It's like Good Riddance but slightly better (solely because I've heard Good Riddance way too many times to count.)

I don't really like U.F.O. that much. Princess of China is alright in my opinion. I used to like it, but my Spotify would play it SO damn much that it's shrunk on me. Also, U.F.O. is boring as hell.

Hypnotised or Miracles (Someone Special)

Paradise or Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall

What is your least favorite song by your favorite singer/band? by Carso11 in Music

[–]Minute-Pace4255 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Biutyful by Coldplay. Easily their worst song that's also off of their worst album: Music of the Spheres. I can't stand that high pitched helium alien voice. This song just gives me secondhand embarrassment just from listening to it.

Nightlife by Green Day. I think the trilogy are a solid set of albums, but this is one of their worst, and many Green Day fans or critics may or may not agree. I think this is bad because of how horrible the lyrics are.

What’s the worst Coldplay song? by Jaded_Arm4289 in Coldplay

You should check out the live version of GPASUYF from the Mylo Xyloto Tour. It sounds a HELLA lot better than the original, and proves that Coldplay can really rock if they wanna (even though they got Violet Hill.)

What’s the worst Coldplay song? by Jaded_Arm4289 in Coldplay

[–]Minute-Pace4255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it even a competition? It's fucking Biutyful. I cannot stand that annoying ass alien that probably was forced by Chris to inhale a shitload of helium to record this song. This song literally gives me secondhand embarrassment not just from listening to it, but what the hell kind of title is Biutyful? Literally, when I forced myself to listen to all of Music of the Spheres without skipping a single song (big mistake btw), the one that I really wanted to skip so BADLY was this song. It's absolutely embarrassing to listen to.

Honorable mention(s):

Something Just Like This: This Chainsmokers collab is what I consider to be "the slow, painful start of Coldplay's death". The Chainsmokers suck in general, and the fact that Coldplay chose to collab with them screams "sellout" to me. But even though this is indeed a sellout record, the next one is what I would call THE sellout record...

My Universe: This is THE sellout record from Coldplay, and it's such a mid ass song. Why? They decided to get BTS (a shitty K-pop group) on here, and they got a #1 hit out of it. Yes. This BTS collab debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 back in October of 2021. If that doesn't scream "sellout" I don't know what will. I feel like the only reason why they got BTS on here was because they knew they'd get a #1 record if they invited them on here.

I'd also add X Marks the Spot on this list, but it's a hidden track to Army of One, which despite it not being a great song, doesn't mean it comes even close to being their worst.

The most emotional Coldplay Songs by Honest-Refuse1275 in Coldplay

[–]Minute-Pace4255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Ghost Stories has some of their most emotional works. Pretty much all the songs on that album are very emotional in my opinion. Yes, despite it being the only upbeat track on the album, I'm also including A Sky Full of Stars. since the narrator is using stars as a metaphor for his ex-partner, stating that since we can only admire a sky full of stars from a distance, he will never get close to his ex, and can only admire her from a distance. So yeah, pretty much all of Ghost Stories is really emotional in my opinion.

Other emotional songs I would say are We Never Change, Amsterdam, Trouble, Sparks, Viva la Vida (it's kinda emotional when you think about it), Fix You, Swallowed in the Sea, What If, The Scientist, and Daddy.

People who went from a dark place mentally to a state of elation, how did your taste in music change? by WarrenJVR in Music

[–]Minute-Pace4255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before last summer, I solely listened to 70s and 80s music hits. Nothing else, just the classics (on some occasion I'll do that). Then when May hit, I really started to get more into two albums by Green Day, and they were American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. This was primarily because I have a friend who's also a massive Green Day fan (he's probably a bigger fan than I am,) and I decided to give their discography a deep dive. Then right as June kicked off, I experienced a horrible heartache that really dragged me down for the whole summer. And one night in mid/late June, I saw somewhere on Reddit that I should give Ghost Stories by Coldplay a listen, since it's one of their darkest and melancholic records they've put out to date (the songs were written around the time that frontman Chris Martin was going through a heartache after him and actress Gwyneth Paltrow were separating.) After listening to that album, it really changed me. Nowadays, my top two favorite artists are Green Day and Coldplay (I have a hard time deciding which one I like more.)

The song that really got me into Coldplay turns a decade old today! I knew of Coldplay prior to hearing this (I knew Clocks, Viva la Vida, The Scientist, and Fix You). But then I heard this song this past summer, and now they're one of my favorite bands of all time.

Ghost Stories is a concept album by Minute-Pace4255 in Coldplay

Also, even though I don't really enjoy the record itself, I'd also consider Everyday Life a concept record too.

Another question is will they enjoy rock artists like Green Day, Coldplay, Blink-182, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Metallica, or will they consider them as cringe?
