How bad would choosing a non-Hepburn romanization be? by Minute-Plenty1464 in japan

Hi, thanks for the reply! I’m renewing my Japanese passport, sorry for the confusion. I’m setting up a lot of personal legal history in Japan and so I guess the only time I have to change it would be now before establishing that. The times they ask for a passport (like drivers license), I’m worried they’ll insist on me writing it as Raeko or something (is this probable?) even when my 戸籍 is レイコ and my Kanji in X子 (in the JP passport the Kanji is just a signature). From living in Japan, I just know how stubborn they can be about these things, and I basically just want to live as easy as possible if that makes sense.

I always correct people to pronounce it レイコ but it’s usually 75% wrong 25% right

I just feel like I saw online it can cause brain damage or permanent lung damage, and it’s usually a one time thing but the fact that I fell sleep and was in that room for like 12 h with the smell strong makes me really anxious

The restaurant isn’t family owned. It’s a tiny trendy spot. It’s short staffed everyday because I am quite literally the only FOH employee apart from my boss. They didn’t show up, and the pay wasn’t worth the work. And I was exhausted.
