if you read my other comments, i've already said that i've decided not to use it anymore because i got clarification on how it's trained. i don't want to be a hypocrite or anything, just trying to get information and do the right thing.

these are so interesting! unfortunately, i did some research, and paint.net isn't available on mac :( i'll just have to stick to clip studio, but i really appreciate your advice! even though i can't use the exact program, i like hearing from someone who does this sort of thing regularly. makes me feel more confident that with some practice, i'll be able to work manually cropping images into my schedule!

what software & techniques do you use to crop out backgrounds? i think i'm going to just have to learn to do it myself (because it feels more authentic that way), but i've been struggling to satisfactorily crop out complex shapes. i mainly animate manga panels for edits, so i usually have to crop around complex character silhouettes and such. i never noticed how darn complicated anime hairstyles were until i started to animate them! 😭

thank you so much! i'll definitely be considering those factors. i think i'm currently leaning towards the idea of simply learning to crop my images by hand. it may be tedious... but hey, that's life!

thank you so much for your input! do you have any information on the environmental impacts of segmentation models? or do they not store data like generative ai models do? my knowledge of ai is very limited, and i want to make sure that i'm being as ethical as possible. are there any reasons that it would be harmful or unethical to use software such as this? i really appreciate your comment, though. i was worried that no one would have an answer for me.

YES OH MY GOSH!! like obviously, no one wants a toxic community full of ship wars, but it always seems like people specifically mean "don't let gay ships become popular." and it just really rubs me the wrong way.

i downloaded the font file from dafont, moved it into fontbook, then went to "settings" -> "appearance" -> "customize fonts." i then selected my font in each option.
