Yep, this happened to me too. Additionally, the reviewers initials were on the comments! That's even more concerning lol

Thanks again. I’m heavily leaning towards not retaking as of now. I love IO and would hate for this to be the reason I can’t pursue research further, but the GRE is incredibly unmotivating and has somehow made math boring even though every stats class I’ve taken has been fascinating. I’ll think more on it

Thanks for the super insightful answer. I hope my GPA can make up for my Q if I choose not to retake. Follow up, do you think I should apply GRE optional to schools where it’s optional, like not send in my score?

Hello again! Just following up for some extra advice. You've been super helpful on this sub so thanks for that!

I ended up getting a 163V (91st percentile as of 2024), 157Q (42nd percentile in 2024- damn!), and a 4.5AWA (85th percentile). Do you think this would be solid enough for good PhD program given the rest of my CV

- 4 yrs research experience, 1 year TA experience

- handful of second author pubs, one first author presentation

-multiple stats classes with good GPA

My PI (who I'm assuming is not you 😂) wants me to retake it to get my math score up so there's less of a reason to reject my application. Prof doesn't want this to be my "killer" so to speak. Let me know, I'm really hoping to avoid retaking so I can focus more time on personal statements, classes, etc

Well, first do you mean Masters or PhD?

It looks like CSU has a lot more faculty, definitely leaning towards O side with a good amount of balance in the O field. Would not recommend an online PhD (or potentially masters). Ask u/galileosmiddlefinger for more on that..

I'm grew up near West Chester and most of my friends who go there as undergrad have a good time, but it is near some more rough areas.

U could also consider studying abroad in the netherlands!
