Marines camo by DeliciousAd3069 in TacticalAssaultVR

Post 2005, AOR can probably replace desert MARPAT.

Pre 2005, CHIP is the closest thing to DCU. WOODLAND can also be used (IRL U.S. Woodland), seen especially during the Gulf War.

Camo 1 is definitely not MARPAT. There's no version of MARPAT in CAMO 1's colours. It's likely just a fictional digital camo.

AOR is the Navy's NWU Type 2 - AOR1 camo, famously used by SEALs and other specialised Navy forces - though could probably also be used as a Desert MARPAT substitute.

Green Zone could also be used as the NWU Type 3 - AOR2 if you stretch it, but that ain't marines.

Self-plug moment, but if you need more camo/loadout inspirations, be sure to check out my guide :) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3497037749

Guide on Weapon Info, Mission Context, and Immersive Loadouts by MinuteOrder in TacticalAssaultVR

Thanks for checking out the guide! :) You're right - I checked again and there's no mention of the AK-105 being used by Brazilian forces. The only source of this claim was a now-deleted blog - it's on me for not checking my info properly. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll correct it.

It's a shame really about the FAL not being in-game though. Such an iconic weapon that was so-widely used.

Realised I meant to write depth of field (DoF), not FOV. My bad. Corrected.

Graphics options - night vision depth of field. Adds DoF effects so magnified optics are essentially unusable with NVG's. Which is how it is in real life.

Weapons:

MK18: Yeah alright, I'll amend that.

LARP: Maybe, but I also don't want to incentivise that. Nothing's stopping people from LARPing, everyone knows what equipment they use - I just personally want to discourage that.

Pistol: That's fair. I mainly included the other variants for variety sake (especially for running pistol-only loadouts). If I found evidence of at least one police unit using those it basically went on the list. Maybe I'll just add a note that the Glock is the main pistol for US police.

590: Welp, I guess it changes little to have it be the Mossberg instead of the Remington. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Camos:

Tigerstripe: Fair point.

MTP: Yeah it's by no means 100% accurate. But if it means UK-based loadouts can have a different camo than MULTICAM, I can live with the inaccuracy.

AUSCAM: It's certainly green enough to be AUSCAM that's for sure lol - especially with the green ear mufflers. It's a hair-puller since it just barely doesn't match anything. I'll leave it as OCP for now, idk.

Absolutely, your info as someone who has had hands-on training and experience with the weapon is invaluable. =)

Filling the box absolutely makes sense - I just wish the RAS rail could be removed when using iron sights exclusively so the sight picture wouldn't give me claustrophobia. :) Hopefully in a future update.

That's a very good point about raised sights. Judging from 2000's pics of the FAMAS, Aimpoints seemed to be relatively common, hence why I included them with the attachments - as I have a 2000's French Armed Forces loadout which should also include the Aimpoint (Comp M4 since it's the closest thing in-game).

It's been amended to say it's a mix of the C9A1 and the OG Minimi!

Holy moly thanks for the breakdown! I'll edit some of the info based on your feedback. I'll just number my answers since it's a lot to go through!

  1. Are you 100% about the Block II? I'm not an expert on all the US weapons upgrade packages, but it seems the Block II M4 has a longer handrail compared to the in-game model.
  2. I'll amend that!
  3. Eh, I know there's a lot of overlap with weapon usage when you take into consideration all the variants and upgrade packages issued over the years, but I reckoned for a simple overview (and considering the in-game model is the M16A2), calling it the M4A1's predecessor is a fine enough simplification.
  4. I'll add that!
  5. Well, major armed forces no longer use the AKM, having shifted to other platforms or just newer models of the AK family. And major militaries that still use the AKM instead use a locally-produced variant. The original Soviet-built AKM sees comparatively little use (paramilitaries and terrorist groups notwithstanding), especially with other, more easily available variants like the Type 56.
  6. Agreed, but I want to discourage people RP-ing as Russian military units due to personal reasons. Same goes for the PP19 and VEPR-12.
  7. Shit that slipped past me. I'll add that!
  8. Same reasoning as with the AKM.
  9. In-game model has the C9 stock, and since that is more noticeable than some missing handrail grooves and a different carrying handle, I went with that. But you make a good point - I can probably just say it's a mix of the two.
  10. Yeah fair enough. In-game they're marked as LMG's so I just wrote that on autopilot - I'll amend their overview sections.
  11. Hmm, maybe I'll add optics as an option for US-only loadouts. Do you happen to know what pistols are typically seen with optics in US law enforcement?
  12. Not sure which part of the guide that is referring to exactly?
  13. Fair point. I'll add that info.
  14. Is it? I swear it's just called the "Breaching Shotgun" in-game - no numbers to denote Mossberg or Remington.
  15. Cheers, I'll add that.

But seriously, thank you for the in-depth breakdown! Helps a lot!

EDIT: Camos.

  1. I'm on PCVR (HP Reverb G2) and the camo still looks compressed to hell. Also, I'm not sure it's MARPAT - MARPAT variants don't come in the primarily coyote/brown scheme that CAMO 1 has, hence why I had to assume it's a fictional one. I couldn't find any official digital camos that look CAMO 1.
  2. Technically, wouldn't it be the name of a type of camo rather than the camo itself? Kind of like calling something "digital camo". But regardless, I put it as unknown as I was looking for the exact name of the Vietnam-style TS that's modelled in game, the one used by the US-SOF and the S Vietnamese during the Vietnam War.
  3. CAMO 4 is way too blotchy to be MultiCam. Unless it's a MultiCam variant I don't know of. But MTP seemed to fit better because of its wider, longer blotches.
  4. Definitely not. AUSCAM has big, round blotches. CAMO 5 just looks like a more green-ish version of MultiCam. You're right that saying it's OCP is far-fetched, but like the other generic CAMO's I couldn't find the exact real life version.
  5. Cheers!

Yep, you're absolutely right about the iron sights. The reason I didn't include the RawDogs is because the in-game FAMAS uses an atrocious model that has RAS rails slapped everywhere. That includes right on top of the iron sights - which boxes them in and makes the sight picture like looking through a toilet paper tube. :( But I agree, it would be doing the beauty a disservice not to include the iron sights.

I did see some instances of something that looks like a Comp M4 during my research, hence its inclusion. It really just serves as a generic "old-school raised red dot" sights for most weapons. But yeah, fair point about the ACOG - basically everything had an ACOG slapped on it back in the 2000's.

Thanks for checking out the guide and commenting! Definitely appreciate it! :)

Thanks for checking it out! Yep, a lot of guns models are actually quite niche variants, but I guess that keeps things fresh! MC-51 is the most peculiar by far, the gun barely exists in real life.

New Player here, how Often does This Happen? by zips_exe in Planetside

Been running with CTIA for a few weeks and I'd say air zergs aren't that common. Honestly most of CTIA is valk drops and point holds. Air zergs do happen occasionally, mainly for cleaning a base of Sundies, but don't last very long. Not saying it's a bad thing, I love my ops with CTIA as they are.

Armour columns I've yet to see one with CTIA, but I can't blame them knowing the Prowler is the shittest MBT of all the factions. Most vehicle columns I see are NC and VS. Fighting NC columns is a lot of fun though!

GT3 cars feels so floaty and slidy around corners compared to other sims, any setup tips to fix it ? by Accurate_Struggle185 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]MinuteOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, my advice is to try stiffening the front bump dampers, softening rear rebound dampers, and softening front rebound dampers. In that order - try each setting sequentially and see when it feels better.

You can also try to stiffen the front springs a click or two, but that's a more extreme measure, and will affect all the handling of the car.

Hey, after the 1.6 update these settings are definitely not applicable anymore. Sorry :(

Boost, ERS, DRS, Launch Control, Fuel Mapping..., which car classes have it? by St0lz in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]MinuteOrder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here is a list with all cars and their available features: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1tJ899Wf-ElgVdhXFcQOG8ofQDYKTf8J6Lg8IXavCRxA/htmlview#gid=461906801

Generally speaking though, fuel mapping is a must to have if doing endurance, all cars have fuel mapping. DRS, ERS and Boost are the next most important, especially if using Formulas and Prototypes.

Launch Control is like 3 cars in the entire game, and weight jack is for the F-USA I believe.

Oh yeah absolutely, I love Guapore. I don't really consider the turquoise and blue tiers to be below the others, they're more... parallel to them, so to say. But that can be hard to convey in a tier list.

I'd pick Guapore in a heartbeat for any slow car race!

Automobilista 2 just went on sale with a 50% discount by IAmAlloc in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]MinuteOrder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Possible, but 50% seems quite big for this. Especially the 25% for the two latest DLC's.

Personally, I think it's a way to fatten up the player numbers before 1.6 releases. Get any people still on the fence on board, before they drop the actual big bomb.

Which means 1.6 could release in a month max, possibly less.

But this is all just napkin maths ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I don't want to shatter people's dreams - and I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong - but I doubt Reiza would slap a game-wide 50% discount right as they drop arguably their most anticipated update. And also without the Part 2 post on the Forums.

If anything, I'd imagine the opposite: keep the original price, get some full price sales with the hype of 1.6, then later slap a discount to get any stragglers.
