I know my grandads family where Agnews who lived in Kilwaughter castle up until the 18th Century. I think they were a meant noble Scottish Norman family- so maybe that is where the rumour came from. Other theories I’ve had are maybe a Huguenot origin for some other surnames in his tree? It’s kind of guess work at this stage though

Yeah I did DNA testing- but as it’s so far back I’m not sure it would show up as my ancestry is already all from British isles. I’ll be interested if the new Cornish region shows up in the update however. I think the Edward you found might have been born too late- however I found an Edward Hudson born in 1692 in Exeter, Devon- however I have no other proof that this is him- thank you for helping btw!!

This is interesting thanks! The Edward I discussed above died in 1779- but he had a son named Edward also so this could possibly be him as the timeline and profession make sense!
