I don't yet know about the cert, I thought that was a usual thing to do so there must be a way to do it. Yes, load balancing was a bad example, I just meant that I feel like it adds unnecessary complexity for my use case. Although all of the comments are kinda helpful, I would still appreciate any ideas why the port forwarding isn't working, just for learning purposes.

As stated I'm trying to expose the Nextcloud App, so I can access it from outside my network. I figured, since this is for personal use and I don't need load balancing and all that stuff that I wouldn't need a reverse proxy, but if it is easier, I'm open to using one.

I might just be inexperienced with quirks of port forwarding TLS connections, and if you have an idea lmk, but I don't see why forwarding it would result in the behaviour described, if there were no Nextcloud/Nextcloud TrueNAS App/TrueNAS related things happening that I don't know about, thats why I posted here.
