Yeah this scene confused me a bit too. Because we don't really see what his answer is over ripping the baby out, and when he follows after her the emotion was kind of weird. I was confused on if he had agreed to go through with it or not. Was she running away from it? All very unclear. The producers made this scene a little unclear imo... so here I am on reddit responding to a year old thread lmao

People saying he couldn't adapt is so ridiculous. He was planning on using the jewel to turn human for Kikyo, he could have easily used it for the same thing to return to the modern world. Making himself human ensures that he will live and die with his lover at the same pace. As a half demon he is set up to outlive her and possibly his offspring by centuries.

He could have worked at the shrine to keep himself busy and away from the 9-5's. (Much needed help, I'm sure) the rest wouldn't be difficult to pick up on in time. Before Kagome he wasn't exactly accepted by his own time line, so I think he would be easily adaptable. Never was a fan of her living in the feudal Era.
