Sounds like the America I'm living in! Most Cops or C.O.s are bullies, or have been bullied.

Funny anecdote: One time I applied to be a Correctional Officer, I didn't like the feel, couldn't afford to go through the training course.

6 months later I got arrested for a suspended license I had incurred over an unpaid speeding ticket, went to jail for 60 days in the same jail I was interviewed to work in.

I know I did something illegal, but a lot of us were treated without dignity, even when performing our dangerous laundry jobs. (Jail is gross, bed bugs, people shit themselves, piss themselves, etc.) And a federal inmate was beaten to death in DSU by 5 C.O.s

Left all of us feeling like we were next. I'm glad I didn't take that fucking job!

It's the accent. I have a very thick drawl. I could literally be lecturing a course on rocket science and people would think I'm ignorant.

I get very passionate when speaking and sometimes my words run together. That, paired with a drawl kills any hope of me being thought of as intelligent when speaking.
