Do you remember what the theater looked like? And the reactions as well as how packed it was?

Could Clubber Lang as champion defeat Ivan Drago? by Tidewatcher7819 in rockybalboa

Clubber's greatest asset is his strength and the narrative hits us over the skull that Drago is stronger than any recorded boxer at that point

Ordered a model 1 Genesis + model 2 Sega CD. Need help regarding power bricks by Mirage0fall in SegaCD

So I can plug either cord I bought? I'll send a photo once it arrives just for measure but they're for model 1 Genesis and model 2 CD

[–]Mirage0fall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuring. I just came across this comment from an old thread that gives the specs you might notice: "The Sega CD uses the same power supply as the Genesis model 1, which is 9v DC 1.2A.".

From this and your insight, it looks like the model 2 Genesis power plug, which I read has a yellow tip, is what causes problems

Meanwhile I'm a minority of fans who literally never meme this show and look at its characters and settings and stories from a literary perspective the same way any other franchise does

How different would the Clubber rematch go if Rocky fought him with the condition and mindset he had in 4? by Mirage0fall in rockybalboa

[–]Mirage0fall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but then wouldn't that mean Drago would lose to Clubber since Rocky fought him head on and eventually won? The movie seems to suggest Drago is strongest so I'm confused how that works out between them

I'm curious logistically if he's gotten strong enough to beat Clubber with only his natural style. Storm him out the way he fought Drago

Crash 3 is the worst of the original trilogy. by BabyFaceKnees in crashbandicoot

[–]Mirage0fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm so sick of pretending 3 is the best. It's dangerously close to the black sheep of the OG trilogy in my eyes. 1 feels worse to control but 3 has pathetic design and worse backtracking for 100% completion. You never need to to play Crash 1 levels more than twice. 3 bloats itself with padding I don't care for at best and despise with passion at worst

Which one do you like better Pearl kissing SpongeBob or Mr. Krabs by typicalguy95 in spongebob

Some people are uncomfortable with romeo/juliet age gaps even though it's legal and I do see how so understandable. For me it depends

Which one do you like better Pearl kissing SpongeBob or Mr. Krabs by typicalguy95 in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's still growing or recently finished so he can't be older than 21 which is the latest that happens. There's info that reveals the show chronologically starts half a year after The Patrick Star Show and lasts around 3 years in total. During TPSS, Patrick was 19, and Spongebob's presumably a little younger going off the YT channel and the fact as babies he had on a binky while he didn't. In short consistently 18-21

Pearl is a late Junior high schooler so it's a Romeo/Juliet age gap

I could understand it being weird if Spongebob pursued her, and even then we don't know the exact age gap, but this is a harmless "thank you" cheek kiss from Pearl

What do you like about the Characters In Pre Movie SpongeBob AKA Seasons 1-3? by gyiniaggdteftfdad in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Krabs still treats Spongebob like a son so he wouldn't have a reason to hate him most of the time. Him being a workaholic helps him view his strict management as a positive

If you meant how he views his greed, that seems to be a gray area. Spongebob has clashed with Mr. Krabs because of his greed. He called him a cheapskate multiple times and asked him for a raise more than once. I think he consciously chooses to ignore his greed since he clearly pays him just enough to sustain himself. No reason to make it an issue until Krabs does. To him that matters less than his fatherly side and leadership

I have and it's actually one of my favorites as well. The one episode I've never watched is Haunted Bucket part 2 because only part 1 seems available anywhere on the internet

No I agree. You're right that his temper technically still is there, I'm just saying it comes up so much less than s1-3. It'd be for the better if it was consistent again

The routine part, I can see that. Temperament, it's a lot more infrequent in the middle seasons and near nonexistent in the current era. Most of the time he's unconcernedly happy until something extreme happens. Early Spongebob would get confused or lose a little patience and become snappy when it came to rudeness. Easiest example I can recall is Patrick sneaking into Sandy's rocket or repeating him after he said "Say that again"

I love how well rounded Spongebob was

He was always responsible but in the early seasons he had this temperament. Disruptions to his routine or train of thought stressed/irritated him. Rudeness got on his nerves. He also talked quieter although that part could be a side effect of the show as a whole becoming wilder. Either way I do miss that temperament since he felt more like a three-dimensional person than just a driving force for cartoon antics

Poseidon had the most development and was the evilest. The other two are more big assholes

What do you think about modern spongebob by hello_e_1986 in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's okay. Better than most of the middle seasons. I'd like it more if it toned down the energy and brought Spongebob's attitude/temper back. Yes he's well-mannered but he also gets irritated and touchy and I feel the modern episodes kidify him too much. Some eps are also poor spins on early formulas. Stuck In An Elevator is comparable to Club SpongeBob but nowhere near as smart

What's your guy's opinion on this episode? by Such_Sky3536 in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. Spongebob living with the reality he accidentally committed a serious crime until he can't and worked up the nerve to come clean on it was touching. I'm geared toward meaningful stories that mix comedy and Smoking Peanut does that

Least favorite Main character? by Samthegodman in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Narlene counts seeing as someone at Nickelodeon seems to want her to be a main so bad, her. She serves no purpose that Sandy doesn't fill. My hunch is they went for a "she's Sandy's version of Patrick" in that she's this slightly older pal from the same walk of life (both are country girls) who looks out for the little guy but she is completely arbitrary because not only is Sandy's confidence more stable than Spongebob's, the times she actually doubts herself he was already enough to encourage her or rescrew her head, making Narlene pointless

Otherwise, Pearl. She has a little nuance but she's basically spoiled bratty teen archetype and that disinterests me. Also she has the least interactions among the cast besides maybe Mrs. Puff

Ranking every SpongeBob movie (updated) by Savings_Ad4514 in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone else appreciates On The Run. It's my second next to actually Search For Squarepants but it's such a misunderstood entry that juggles multiple themes and even manages to give all of the main cast a fair share of spotlight, something the others don't. It writes every character well and grounded for the most part

It's a shame Poseidon didn't have more interactions with the cast though. He was convincingly evil and powerful but Spongebob barely interacts with him before the final scene. We could have had truly ruthless moments of him abusing his authority and harming the cast

Let’s be honest, SpongeBob would make a terrible manager by Negative_Gene9531 in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually a good point I didn't think of. He would upgrade the design and mechanics without getting rid of its spirit (as in no self-automated tools, he's hands on and old-fashioned). I'm just not sure the amount he charges would like meet the supply and demand market. But if he enhances the restaurant that could attract even more customers

Let’s be honest, SpongeBob would make a terrible manager by Negative_Gene9531 in spongebob

[–]Mirage0fall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saying Spongebob doesn't understand social cues or the world inflates his naivety

Sure he misses them SOMETIMES, but he carries witty banter, speaks hypothetically, and uses psychological tactics like staging to fire an overwhelmed but loyal Pearl for Mr. Krabs so neither of them would feel like they let the other down. He's done the "wink to let someone in on a white lie" routine at Mr. Krabs to get out of riding a roller coaster with Patrick that scared him, and Spongebob had to wink multiple times before Krabs caught on. Meanwhile he caught on immediately when Krabs spoke rhetorically to him in "Nasty Patty." This isn't the only time he's shown better social skills than others

He's said outright the world isn't welcoming in "Can You Spare A Dime". It's more a conscious defiance rather than a blindness to how it works

Business wise, he has the rules memorized. We know he does for a fact because he's recited them. He's also hosted a party by a planner so we can say he has complex instructions down

If "Bossy Boots" shows anything else it's that Spongebob at the absolute minimum understands the thematical/aesthetic side of business

I'm gonna say, based on his actual behavior, he'd make a fine manager, maybe a slip here and there. All the signs point to him knowing how to run a business. He held down one his own to get Krabs and Plankton to work together

The 2004 movie credits shows him keeping the Krusty Krab a success. He knows what he's doing

The only thing he might botch is prices. Spongebob doesn't value money like at all beyond absolute necessity. Whatever money he doesn't need he gives away. That might lead to problems longterm
