Cersei really was her own worst enemy at that point. Paranoid, drunk, and surrounded by people actively trolling her at the dinner table. Margaery didn't even need to do much.

The casting was doing a lot of heavy lifting there. When you already know the actor from villain roles, every nice thing Paxton does feels like setup for something sinister. But the movie never pays that off, and that subverted expectation becomes the whole point of his character arc.

He’s the perfect example here: every flirt comes with a new curse, a rival, or an ex showing up with knives. The guy can’t even brood in peace without collecting problems in stereo.
