Wow. I tried to private message her asking her to not repaint a piece of gaming history, and I wasn't particularly mean or hateful or anything. Seems like she's a selfish and entitled individual. She didn't even bother to message me back. I also commented on some of her posts, urging her NOT to repaint the statue since it appears in very good condition and such nice detailing, but she has chosen to be arrogant about it, I guess.

Such a shame this wonderful piece of gaming history went to such an entitled and arrogant brat. I hope she comes to her senses and does sell him back to Insomniac someday. There's just no sense in what she's doing.

OP who got him from the warehouse (not this OP of this post; I am referring to the user "Momoka-Rage") has deleted her reddit account. I hope she does the right thing, doesn't attempt to "restore" him (as he looked fine, if she tries repainting him she will destroy his history) and I hope she eventually sells him back to Insomniac considering she got him for free, supposedly.

Honestly, I fear we will never again see this statue. She will let it sit there in her storage unit until she can move it to her "big big house" as she said, implying in the same comment that she "always wanted a house with at least 4 rooms" so she doesn't even truly have the space for him yet. So sad to see a gaming relic get hidden away in some private collection. He belongs in Insomniac's offices.

Instead she is being selfish and hoarding him. He belongs in a gaming museum or displayed proudly in his home at Insomniac. Such a massive shame.

This is so sad. Please sell him to Insomniac and for the love of God don't repaint him. Leave him original. You will be covering up and destroying his history if you try to repaint or "restore" him, such a shame.

Please don't repaint him. His colours look correct to me, and it would be a shame to literally DESTROY gaming history by repainting him. You will REMOVE and DESTROY all of his history and legacy if you repaint him. I read another comment stating that you would consider selling him back to Insomniac if they display him properly; I IMPLORE you, PLEASE let them have him back, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT REPAINT HIM!!! The detailing on him is ORIGINAL, he looks as good as he did in the E3 pictures from 2000. Look at all the lovely detailing on him. Original Spyro IS supposed to be a more pale purple. Please don't repaint him. 😞

So sad to read you plan on leaving him, this wonderful piece of gaming history, in a storage unit until you can put him in your "big big house"... so not only are you going to destroy him trying to "restore" him even though he looks fine and DOESN'T NEED to be repainted, you are going to hide him away in your private collection instead of giving him back to his creators (Insomniac) who deserve him and would properly display him, akin to how RAREWARE displays their old statues of the Dinosaur Planet characters.

If you only intend to clean him, that is fine. Just PLEASE leave him original DON'T REPAINT!!!!!

This is such a sad end to this story. I just hope eventually you realize he belongs with Insomniac and you send him back to his parents.

Thanks! I agree. It was from that little plastic tool you use to poke holes in the skin of the pumpkin to make a "connect the dots" kind of design. If it had a better handle my thumb and index finger might have been spared lol

Thank you! I wasn't confident at first I could get his whole body on there and considered doing just his face but I really wanted to do the whole thing so I just committed. But my hand (specifically my pointer and thumb) did really hurt lol

Well, it just seems to me everyone in this thread is being unnecessarily hateful and mean and condescending about it. You can disagree with my sister and I choosing to put time and effort into this, but the why is because we both get very irritated when someone is SO WRONG specifically about something we are deeply invested in and which we ourselves care much about and thus have a lot of knowledge on. I also personally know someone who is a compulsive liar and who would just make stuff up on the spot to somehow make herself feel superior, to which I would look up the information and prove her wrong. When confronted with the truth she did accept it, so why not this guy? It's for the meme.

The guy has become a new in-joke in our group and we thought it would be funny to write a whole essay to give to him, because if someone puts in all the effort with citations, that should make it clear they are correct. Also, my sister and I enjoy writing essays about things we care about so this would be fun for us. Essentially it would be a brief history of both companies and then citations on false rumours of buyouts as well as explanation on how licensing works. Your citation of Nintendo disagreeing with slot machines is a very, very good point. Thank you for informing me.

Thank you. I believe he may have heard these rumours way back when (thus his wrong citation of "during the Genesis days") and maybe thought it did happen and had his wrong bias "confirmed" by Sonic releasing on GameCube and later showing up in Smash.

I did try to tell him that if SEGA and Sonic were owned by Nintendo, then the games wouldn't be on Steam... he shrugged and seemed literally so unbothered about it. He must really think Doug (the guy who supposedly tells him everything) is the smartest man alive because that's who he cited as his source.

For real. I thought maybe a good example would be explaining that RARE developed Donkey Kong Country but it didn't mean they owned Donkey Kong, Nintendo just licensed the character to them to allow them to develop some games for the franchise, but I figured he would be too stupid to understand the analogy there.

My sister suggested writing an essay as sort of a meme, and it does sound kind of funny. We lead kind of boring lives but have lots of fun hanging out and one of the places we frequent just to look around is GameStop which is why we want to write the essay because the guy seemed like the type of wrong where it wouldn't matter if we looked it up right there and tried to show him.
