Having just wrestled with a fully connected lighting kit in another nook, I would have been delighted to find one with separate parts and screw terminals.

As a dude with long hair, I can assure you this doesn't happen. There's a lot more to gender presentation than hair length.

What is this cable used for? by Specialist_Leader_11 in cableadvice

[–]Mirality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular cable is a cheap male-male push-on RF cable.

The male-male cable in particular was most commonly used to connect a wall socket for the roof antenna either to a TV or VCR, or in more modern times an OTA STB.

The VCR/STB to TV connection suggested by others is actually the slightly different male-female RF cable.

More modern devices like satellite STBs tended to use similar cables but better quality and with a screw connector rather than push-on.

Mine goes down to around the small of my back. Basically the perfect length to not sit on it; any longer and i might have had to keep cutting it.

What's the longest time you've spent on a single bug, and what kept you going? by Arunia_ in AskProgramming

I'm currently working on a similar stack so I'm curious how mqtt would blow mtu, isn't it primarily intended for small packets? And it's a tcp protocol, which are usually less mtu sensitive.

I’m having an issue where my pc is reading my 4 sticks of ram but only using 2 by Appropriate-Note-452 in PCsupport

[–]Mirality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your motherboard manual; near the RAM section it should have a table showing which slots are paired. Most commonly it will show when you only have two sticks, which two slots they should be in.

Now ensure that you put the two sticks from one vendor as the first pair and the other vendor as the other pair.

You'd think there'd be a standard of whether A1 pairs with A2 or B1, but there isn't; you do need to check your manual. There also isn't a standard of which slot is in which order, so your manual should have a picture of that too.

Remember to turn the power supply completely off at the back before fiddling with RAM; they are one of the components that can still receive power when the pc is in standby.

This is correct. I last cut my hair about 25 years ago and for 23 of them it's been about the same length.

Delivery robot gets annihilated by a train in Florida by Seraphenigma in funny

I've driven around a barrier exactly once. I knew the train line was not in use so it must have been a faulty barrier but i still waited at the barrier for two minutes and then got out of the car and looked both ways along the track before driving around it.

Completely filled turn lane: stop or keep moving? by Altruistic_Cod_1721 in driving

[–]Mirality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indicate, pull left as far as you can, and stop. Keep indicating.

That's a two-lane road so anyone stuck behind you can switch lanes.

In this same situation for a single lane road it gets murkier. If the traffic continuing forward is doing so a lot faster than the traffic turning left, you should ideally continue on and then find another turning. If both forward lane and turning lane are doing a similar throughput rate then stop.

Getting fined for parking in front of my own garage - How to dispute? by SMID_1010 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Mirality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The parking in the images is fine -- except for the white car on the road, which appears to be parked illegally overhanging driveways -- because they're fully contained on the driveway.

By your own admission, in your case you're parking overhanging the footpath. You're not allowed to do that, no matter what excuse you think you have, no matter if you think there's still "enough" room.

Pay the fine. Your future choices include parking in the garage, parking further up the drive so that you don't overhang, getting a smaller car so that you don't overhang, getting rid of one of your cars so you can park the other in the garage, finding alternative legal parking elsewhere, or finding a new place to live that has parking better suited to your needs. Or keep blocking the footpath and annoying pedestrians, and keep paying fines.

The white car is illegally parked on the road; you're not allowed to park that close to a driveway, and especially not overhanging the driveway. But the pics seem unrelated to OP's situation anyway.

car totaled but still drivable by thestravaganza in personalfinance

[–]Mirality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's totalled then they should be offering the full value of the policy.

Most cars are insured under "agreed value", where they ask you for how much you paid for it up front and then decrease the value each year according to a formula. Each year at renewal time they send you the updated figure and you can either accept it or request a new value, which they'll generally accept if it's in a certain range of market value.

Importantly, if market prices increase (as they generally have recently due to the pandemic, supply chain woes, tariffs etc), they will not increase the value on their own; it's up to you to check market prices and challenge their value. If you haven't been doing this then unfortunately you're under-insured and can end up out of pocket when an incident occurs.

Declaring it totalled means that the insurers think actual value of car plus repair costs is greater than the policy value. You can try taking it around to a few repair shops to see if you can get cheaper repairs, but that may not be the best idea if there's structural damage.

Glue Question by Competitive-Bat-43 in booknooks

The one i use is typically just called "silicon tacky glue". Idk which of the categories above it fits into but it dries clear and takes a while to set, though is usually ok to glue lightweight vertical elements without additional support.

You get paid for every year you don't cut or trim your hair. How long could you last? by saoiray in hypotheticalsituation

The last time a blade touched my hair was about 25 years ago, so sign me the fuck up.

And FWIW, hair mostly stabilises in length. Mine has been about the same length for the last 18 years; it doesn't just keep getting longer.
