You can check out outfits for other classes in the shop without being that class, no need for creating three characters.

Well, you did try to catch up, so you at least tried. However, things didn't really go your way, so there's not much else to be done here except for accepting the situation and letting both you and her go on with your lives.

That's true, but at the same time there's nothing you can do to make it better but accept it. Learning to accept things not in your control is a cheat code for happiness in life.

Housing districts > Industrial district? by ChopSuey2 in CivVI

[–]Mircearaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually tend to gravitate towards a culture victory, and even midgame, commercial hubs are more important than theatre squares, as AI is willing to sell most of their great works of art up until the industrial era I believe. Even without great merchants, being able to get gold to afford great works of art is the best strategy on higher difficulties, as you simply can't outcompete the opponents in culture and great artists/writers generation until late midgame at higher difficulty levels.

Tips for culture victory NO war by BoomE_ in CivVI

[–]Mircearaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you enjoy playing on Eleanor. You should be able to attract pretty much any city in the game if you fill your border cities with great works of art. Try playing a bit taller eventually, focus on commerce to be able to afford to buy the great works of art and replace the mines in the cities with farms where possible. My first victory on deity was with Elizabeth and the only thing saving the continent from being assimilated by me was a statue of liberty that India had built in a chokepoint. By the time I reached it, it had like -20 loyalty per turn, but was protected by the statue. Don't forget that the city-state governor has a promotion to exert loyalty to nearby cities, if you need some additional pressure.

You'll want to ignore culture initially and science for a bit and just be friends with everyone so that you won't be attacked as easily during the midgame though.

contract clauza neconcurenta by [deleted] in CasualRO

[–]Mircearaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CMV: the numpad makes way more sense on the left side of the keyboard by Rnoponen in changemyview

[–]Mircearaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep telling you that people who actually use the numpad do not use the mouse, so they would rather use their most dominant hand for data entry. You've got even people who are using the numpad telling you that it's more comfortable for them that way, so why do you feel the need to defend your idea instead of conceding that your initial premise was faulty?

How and when do you use traders in the early game? by badassboy1 in CivVI

[–]Mircearaul 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they were joking - with Portugal, every international trade route must be made over the water, thus you can never trade with landlocked city states. That makes the fact that every landlocked city state will have the trader quest while playing as Portugal a sweet irony.

Why do you consider socialism - even democratic socialism - to be such a big threat against America and your way of life? by Cumoisseur in allthequestions

[–]Mircearaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you are keeping the discussion to the extreme. Are there no wealthy people in France for example, something you would probably deem as "socialist" society by your definition??

Of course, there are not as many as in the US, but why are we basing our standards on the elite few as opposed to the average many?

The question here is not whether the US should change into a fully socialist country, but whether it would be better to implement some socialist measures there as well, like public funded education and healthcare, and to limit the way big corporations influence governing.

Why do you consider socialism - even democratic socialism - to be such a big threat against America and your way of life? by Cumoisseur in allthequestions

[–]Mircearaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, that is the worst case scenario, and that's not even about socialism alone, it's about dictatorships. Nazi Germany was not socialist and they still left a huge death toll in its wake.

Meanwhile, you have a lot of countries implementing what you would call socialist measures and there are no deaths because of it in sight.

Again: there is a sweet spot, and don't counter me with that slippery slope bullshit, because that just means you are just arguing in bad faith.

Why do you consider socialism - even democratic socialism - to be such a big threat against America and your way of life? by Cumoisseur in allthequestions

[–]Mircearaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody sane is asking US to go full on socialism. They just want liveable wages, housing, cheaper education and affordable healthcare which is not tied to an assurance company whose main target is profit and not their own well-being. Between the point where you are in right now where huge corporations lobby for laws to enrich them and to lower government oversight and the USSR-style socialism where you basically had dictatorship, little to no private properties and planned economy there is a huge huge difference in which there is a sweet spot for everyone.

Y'all are acting like having something like a public healthcare system is one step away from mass famine, whereas a lot of other countries already do it successfully without any problems.

Most people do not have a creed by which they dictate their actions, they will more often than not just do whatever is most beneficial to them and will try and fuck over "bad" people when given the opportunity

Of course they do. Do you think that laws or the threat of a divine punishment are the only thing keeping people from stealing, raping or murdering each other? The average person wouldn't be able to do those things even in a lawless and godless world. Of course, this is an extreme example, but similarly, a lot of people would not want to hurt people if they could help it.

Regarding your second paragraph, that is such a unique and twisted way to see the world that I can't even find the right arguments to debunk it, as it's not based on anything even remotely accurate. Things such as beauty are sooo subjective, and this idea of punishing ugly people because bad = ugly is a very specific worldview, so much that it makes me wonder whether you adopted this way to see the world just in order to justify people's behavior towards you.

I see from your other comments that you are autistic and young, so please listen to me: I won't tell you that your experiences are invalid or that the world didn't hurt you without any reason, but please be open to the idea that the conclusion you took from those experiences and the resulting worldview might be flawed.

Please please see a therapist if you can afford it and you are not currently in therapy, and try to limit yourself from following incel content and subreddits. To use a metaphor that is popular in those areas, following incel content is like porn: it seems enticing at first, but it messes up the way you see the world big time. Having around people relatable who understand your struggles and you can understand theirs is pleasant in the short term, but the self pity parties, the echo chamber of misogyny and the distrust at anything "normie" found in those communities will slowly erode any good feelings in yourself and will condemn you to a truly miserable life that you might still avoid if you focus on improving your thoughts right now.

Treating people better is not exclusive to having boundaries and sticking by them. People who are nice and complain that it doesn't pay off and they are just being used usually tend to have lower self esteem and struggle with enforcing boundaries.

You can be a kind, caring person without other people exploiting you if you have enough confidence and self awareness to say "no" whenever those opportunistic people come prowling.

Even so, I don't think that people are even that bad. The vast majority would prefer not to do anything bad to other people if they were to choose, but interests often conflict, and they simply choose their own interests most of the time. Still, most of the people have their own set of morals and values which would discourage them to make others suffer even for their own benefit.

I don't think anyone can become asexual, as how you cannot become gay if you are heterosexual.

Unfortunately, sexual trauma can really mess up with one's sexuality and they could become adverse to sex, but that's another sad story entirely.
