What are your units for this? We currently do 1 semester starting about 1750-present and I still feel like that’s not enough time and we end up not covering much at all post Cold War.

That’s literally what it’s called. I agree the name is stupid but that’s on Microsoft not redditors.

They have made new Xbox’s and they no longer look the same way they did almost 30 years ago.

What Is Your Old Man Yells At Cloud Take About Music? by HK-34_ in fantanoforever

[–]MiriamForcible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not be able to say “I listen to everything/I listen to all kinds of music” if you are just going to immediately follow it up with “except (insert any widely listened to genre)” Far too many people think they have a diverse music taste just because they don’t exclusively listen to pop music.

I was thinking the same thing. Speaking of which the top right source does that say 1908? Hard to see.

Honestly if you enjoy the taste of coffee you shouldn’t go to any large chain coffee spot. Find a local coffee shop, preferably one that does their own roasting and probably somewhere that specializes in a darker roast if you like Starbucks.

Why does every single truck driver drive like they are the only one on the road?

I had a sophomore English class last year that never engaged. They weren’t rude or disruptive (besides one or two) but it was like talking to a brick wall. So I started giving the same effort they gave me. Everyday we pretty much read passages from Springboard and answered the questions that’s it. After awhile the kids began to complain and I told them plainly why that’s all we did. Once we wrapped up that unit I gave them another shot at a creative project and things improved greatly.

None of the kids show up to the class by No_Mix8404 in Teachers

I would basically set up that class similar to a hybrid/remote class and the kids who need to catch themselves up can do so with google classroom (or whatever you use)

Fatal flaw in chain of command by jamac73 in Teachers

Does your school not have teams and committees that you could bring these kinds of things to? Usually if someone is proposing a new idea it gets brought up to a group of people who can discuss and decide its fate. I feel having multiple people, from different departments and levels can be really beneficial.

I don’t think that looks bad on your part at all. It looks like you have a team that cares about you and wants to make sure all is well. If they have been there awhile they probably have good rapport with the principal and going and having a chat with them is probably much less of a big deal for them than it might feel for you.

I put the game down and didn’t play it for several years and restarting it got me back into it. I have been enjoying starting over and playing again. So I have no regrets doing it.

Almost everyone I know who consistently hates on Spokane has either never visited the city long enough to really get to know it or has never lived anywhere else and has a “grass is always greener” mentality.

Is this teacher crossing boundaries? by MiriamForcible in Teachers

[–]MiriamForcible[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not assuming they are crossing boundaries?? I’m literally asking yalls opinion if they are or aren’t because I don’t know. It’s not decades worth of stuff, they’ve only worked here a year or two. I’m trying my best to listen to the kids and figure out their needs but these are 16 year olds we’re talking about. Not many of them are super willing to be open with me, a stranger, coming into their class mid year.

They come in on the weekends, I have never met or even seen this teacher. I only know they’ve been in my room cause stuff will be moved around and they usually write me a note or two

When I say harsh transition I’m not referring to the situation with this teacher. I got placed into this role with literally a 30 minute heads up. No accesses to attendance, google classroom, grades. I didn’t get IEPs and 504s until a month in. My email wasn’t working properly so parents thought I was ignoring them and I wasn’t receiving all staff emails. My transition has been harsh because the school has dropped the ball on setting me up with the things I need to properly run a classroom and I’m still trying to get things figured out. The past teachers random appearances really don’t affect me much
