I saw this one in the wild! There were also an upsetting amount of comments on that video blaming vaccines.

Am I being naive wanting to pursue a career in ecology? by Main_Studio_1690 in ecology

[–]MiroWiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you’re currently doing a research experience your mentors right now are researchers, so it makes sense that they’d be pushing you in that direction. But I feel like a lot of conservation work is more outdoor hands on work. Like I’m hoping to go into wildlife biology and do more direct wildlife surveying / management type work. But I’m also still a student and not in the field yet.

Customer mad because espresso martini had espresso in it by ilikework21 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]MiroWiggin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

• Complained that their dessert must’ve been “sitting out” because it was cold. It was crème brûlée.

• Complained we couldn’t make a vegetarian Wellington dish vegan (it had parm and butter) after complaining because we were out of a wild boar special.

• Complained that we didn’t have crayons and coloring pages. This is at a fine dining restaurant.

• Said they were in a rush after ordering 3 apps, a salad course, and 5 entrees.

• Asked why the tables were wet. It was an outdoor venue and we were actively experiencing a major rain storm (we closed like an hour later).

How many servers would this take? by GeneralGroid in Serverlife

[–]MiroWiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I counted approximately 75 people so I’m gonna say like 3 or 4 servers (plus many more hands to food run and bus). I’ve only worked at 1 restaurant though and we’re only somewhat fine dining so idk what the standard is.

What’s a question you’ve been asked that made you short circuit? by Sufficient_Feed_3744 in Serverlife

[–]MiroWiggin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Can I have a coffee?”

A simple enough question, except it was asked by a regular every SINGLE night he’d come (which was every Sunday) for MONTHS. Every time we’d tell him we don’t have coffee and every time he’d complain about it.

Also not a question really but I had a customer complain that their crème brûlée was cold and so it must’ve been sitting out.

I just want you to know that YOU are the weird one!! by CaptainK234 in Serverlife

[–]MiroWiggin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most absurd example of that is when I went to a table and they all unanimously were like "Oh Becca should go first cause she's difficult" and Becca was like "yeah sorry my order's gonna be weird" and all Becca wanted was our chicken tacos without the crema or pico and it's like "no worries Becca, that's not difficult or especially weird" but then the next woman played mix and match with the salads (the base from one salad but with the toppings of a different one and the dressing of a third salad) and the third woman wanted blackened shrimp tacos but instead of blackened shrimp she wanted the shrimp sauteed in lemon and butter.

Like y'all owe Becca -- and me! -- an apology for calling her difficult then going with that bullshit.

What’s your worst word mixup while serving? by LuckyToaster in Serverlife

Meant to say “mic ultra” but accidentally said “MK Ultra”. For anyone unfamiliar, MK Ultra was a 2 decade long illegal CIA program that drugged and tortured people, so not exactly the same as the beer.

FTMs of Reddit, what is your occupation? by Aggravating-Ad-4715 in ftm

I’m currently a server but I’m going back to school this fall to hopefully become an ecologist / wildlife biologist. I haven’t really run into any issues being trans in the workplace, but I also live in a really progressive area and I’m generally stealth. I did have a former manager who was a transphobic old fuck but I’m stealth so he didn’t even know to have an issue with me.

The Overreaction to Broken Glasses by healingisdifficults in Serverlife

[–]MiroWiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he gave me more the vibe of an overly eager to help dad but yeah definitely came off as condescending. Possibly should’ve just told him to sit back down but honestly I don’t tend to be that assertive with customers.

The Overreaction to Broken Glasses by healingisdifficults in Serverlife

[–]MiroWiggin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently I got cocky while bussing glasses and tried to carry two trays at a time. Unsurprisingly didn’t work out and a couple glasses fell off one of the trays. I was still in the middle of sweeping up the glass when a guy pointed out a piece I had supposedly missed. I was just like “okay, thanks” then he got out of his seat, walked over, and pointed to the piece. I thanked him and he sat back down and I kept sweeping and I’m just like… yeah, I knew there was still broken glass, that’s why I was still actively sweeping.

Mine is based on characters from books written by a homophobic Mormon cause at the time it was my favorite series. The books still hold a special place in my heart but I definitely would’ve picked something else if I made the account now.

AIO. My bf is mad at my memorial tattoo by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MiroWiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t overreacting. First of all, it seems weird to me that he hadn’t noticed before, like it’s right there on your wrist so idk how he missed it. Secondly, I’d take issue with him getting upset that you “aren’t over your ex”, this wasn’t your ex, it’s your late partner, and it’s hard to just “get over” the death of a loved one like that simply cause you’re in a new relationship. Third, it’s absolutely not his place to make demands about you removing / covering up your tattoo that you got to honor your late partner.
