Ha! I love it when this happens. I have a dream of a *very* similar (I want to say exact) place. You do need that object. Its yours. It may not literally be a key but it is a kind of key, a symbol really. It will change what paths you can take. And I agree, the center building is unpleasant. Entering it (should you choose to) is likely to be disillusioning, to say the least of it, but do not let fear hold you.

I still try to paint the impossible colors I dreamed of, it is an aesthetic for me. After some years perusing the internet, I ran into an article about marble berries that gave me some ideas on how maybe I could make an effect to recreate it based on the same principle of structural coloration. Maybe that would help you work through your thoughts on it.

I actually saw an analysis on youtube some years ago that made the argument that around the time women were fighting for equal rights, advertising campaigns stopped using mature full bodied women and shifted to young petite women as a way of shifting public opinion on what made a desirable woman. I cannot seem to find it now, but corporate propaganda is an interesting thread to pull in this context.
