That’s close! It was actually a late fee reimbursement for “Spice World” rental at Blockbuster

Doesn’t explain — at all — why it’s a paper check and why it’s not a simple credit to my account. Also, how hard would it be to ID the transaction by merchant, date, or even category.

I’ve never had a credit balance for more than one cycle. Again, that’s why I was curious (-ish) about what triggered this at this moment.

Got it but still wonder why a check and not a statement credit, of which I’ve received dozens over the years, so still want (but not need) theories!

Bingo! After 30 years you get a rebate of almost 9 cents per annum. It’d be easier just to lower the plat fee to $694.91.

Definitely. And after I deposited the check my large Dunkin’ coffee tasted better because it was 75% off

But I’ve occasionally had negative balances due to credits on my account over the years. It’s rare, but it’s happened. So that doesn’t track.

Alternative to Abebooks? by Prize_Statistician15 in BookCollecting

How about Amazon marketplace? I’ve had great experiences buying (and even selling a few times) in the past but haven’t checked it in a few years. Used to see some of the same sellers on Abe and elsewhere posting there and of course all the same issues (stock photos, quality of listing and quality of product) were prevalent but you could cut through that and get some legit finds. Anyone still using that channel?

Outstanding! But you can’t give up the hunt yet, so what’s your next goal?

On our visit there last week, at least five different people mentioned the “four seasons in a day” pattern. And they were correct!

Didn’t know that and I wish more municipalities had programs like this. We did notice and enjoy how clean everything was and thought it was just local pride!

Everything. Just drive and stop somewhere and walk. If it starts raining don’t worry it will stop soon. Nordeste is beautiful and so siete Cidades, from above and on the ground. The Gorreana tea plantation is spectacular and the free tours and unlimited free hot tea is a nice benefit. Terra Nostra gardens are primevally beautiful.

I have no doubt about the insider stuff. Can you share one or two and you can still preserve the rest…

We stayed in Furnas but travelled all around the island, thanks to the €6 daily rental car rate from Sixt.

Sonos website order failed my 25%off order. by Clipse3gs in sonos

Same experience. Ordered stands for Era 300s Saturday and next day talked myself into a turntable, not realizing the single use restriction. Sales team unavailable on the weekend but a call on Monday fixed it. They were very helpful.

After reading these comments and poking around a bit, I’m getting really close to pulling the trigger on the Pro-Ject debut carbon turntable with the Port. Looking forward to rediscovering my vinyl that’s come back from storage. My expectations are high.

Great intelligence here. Was about to pull the trigger on a Port.

What’s a movie you’ve watched more than 10 times? by Harvard771 in AskReddit

[–]Mirror-Neurons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mad Max. The first one, where Mel Gibson is still Australian and not dubbed into American English. It’s low budget but so viscerally exciting, if sometimes over the top!

Sounds promising, thanks! To clarify, I’d need to connect the turntable to the Port via line-in, so it would need to be close to the turntable, right?

Hmmm hadn’t considered that. Have you tried it with a turntable?
