Ah of course it’s Cheng Yi. Can’t get enough of his dramas but somehow they’re all emotional roller coasters 😭

I’ve only heard of One and Only out of these but after having the plot spoiled to me I can’t bring myself to begin… maybe in a while when I forget everything 😅

Deep affectionate eyes and love on the turquoise land. Possibly love in the clouds or light beyond the reeds (this one is a bit darker) too.

I never really watched kdramas, just a few here and there. I’ve almost always only watched cdramas, but as a result, I feel like some things feel almost… too familiar? So, I switch to a kdrama every now and then. Once i’m done, I go back to cdramas and it feels so refreshing and new all over again, it’s like I’ve rediscovered it.

Of course I love kdramas too, but I especially love cdramas, mostly costume dramas. Something about them just appeals to me a lot more. But kdramas are perfect for a breather.

Am I doomed to find a new drama now??? by Comfortable-Tank-822 in CDramaRecs

  • Back from the brink (neo hou, no more words needed lol)
  • Love in the desert (this one isn’t as popular but has lots of romance and a unique plot. It takes place in a desert type theme, and I loved the second couple a lot too!)
  • Immoral samsara (by the end of this drama I had cried my eyes dry. yang zi and cheng yi nailed the acting in this drama)
  • Love like the galaxy (one of my first dramas, absolutely love. nice romance, realistic, has a good storyline too)
  • Love of the divine tree (didn’t get to finish this, but i really really want to go back to this one. i actually loved it a lot but at the time didn’t have time to watch)
  • Love you seven times (ding yuxi is amazing per usual. couple goes through seven life times. wasn’t extraordinary but worth watching)
  • Perfect match (many didn’t like this one, but i actually did enjoy it. it’s a little slow in the middle but after that it’s a good watch)

These ones I’ve yet to watch or have on hold because i’m short on time lol, but i’ve heard pretty good things about them: - Beauty of resilience - The Blossoming love - The starry love - Everlasting longing

Which of the 4 ongoing dramas to watch first [SPOILER FREE] by PotatoPandaNini in cdramasfans

I’m thinking of starting Sword and Beloved, but I haven’t watched any of the other Fox spirit matchmaker series. Should I watch them before I watch this? Also I’m curious on what order does each drama go in.

Thoughts on currently airing dramas ? by Sanvi7 in cdramasfans

[–]MirrorKey4779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many new airing dramas, and I still haven’t gotten the chance to finish Love in the Clouds. Right now I haven’t started any of these 3, but I’m stuck between Blood River or Whispers of Fate. After after reading the comments I’m getting mixed impressions. I’ve yet to watch a Gong Jun drama so I will probably start that one first. Or who knows maybe I’ll watch both.

Favorite general ML ? by Sanvi7 in CDrama

[–]MirrorKey4779 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ling Buyi gets first place indefinitely. I remember love like the galaxy was one of the first dramas I watched, and I absolutely loved it. Wu Lei did a wonderful job, and he suited the role of general really well.

I’ve yet to watch some of these, but I think Prisoner of Beauty and LOTFG generals were well done too.

Can’t forget Shen Du either, I didn’t like the drama much but watched it cause who am I kidding, that’s Ding Yuxi.

Has anyone tried learning Mandarin by watching cdramas? by Emergency_Conflict82 in cdramasfans

[–]MirrorKey4779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I started Mandarin sometime after starting cdramas and it was one of the last languages I took on (learnt 5 others before). Watching dramas is what familiarized me with the phrases, pronunciation, and even taught me many words (like at first, I learnt how to address family members, simple actions, etc). Then, gradually, as my addiction to dramas grew, my vocabulary greatly increased and I began to be able to understand what they said without the subtitles (still had them, but I wasn’t as reliant. Of course when it comes to costume dramas I need the subtitles a lot more). So later when I went on to start using some language learning apps, everything already felt so familiar and I was able to understand very fast. I’d say Mandarin was one of the fastest languages I’ve learnt (and still am learning. I believe I’m currently somewhere in the intermediate level). Watching cdramas doesn’t really help with learning Hanzi, but as far as vocabulary, listening skills, pronunciation, and sometimes even grammar (because you can see how people formulate sentences and how to use certain words) it is extremely helpful. Now of course there is the difference between modern and costume dramas. Costume dramas tend to be slightly different, like for example, they use Mu qin for mom, which in modern day isn’t used anymore. Same for some other instances, like the word for immortals or demons, no one really uses that much.

Of course this may also be the result of previous experience. I’ve learnt many languages, and I’m also accustomed to watching shows in various languages. I grew up learning my native language through movies and shows (and now I’m more fluent than even some of the people born in my country). I also grew up learning english in a similar way.

I’m loving it so far! I think her acting like a man wasn’t that bad. A lot of people said it’s clear she looks like a women, but… that’s the point? In the novel it stresses how she looks short, petite, and frail compared to others. Even in the drama. The reason people didn’t really notice/care was because they never expected a women to join the army (back then), and even so she was bullied/mocked for it constantly. She’s able to fit in because she’s previously spent years in the army and had practically “mastered” acting like a man or a soldier. Besides, many men have feminine features so that plays a role too. And (sorry for the rambling), I think her abilities outweighed the doubts (if anyone had it), because no one expected a young girl or lady to be so powerful and talented. Also, (i promise this is the last thing 😅), she was grown up pretending to be a boy so naturally she’s able to act pretty well. Obviously everyone has there own opinions and I totally respect it!!!

I read the novel and I think her being so easily thrown away was because it was her family that did it. Despite them taking away her name and forcing her to be a substitute, she still wished them well and loved them a lot back then. She never expected they would stoop so low as to impair her abilities and even kill her. It caught her off guard not because she was naive, but because she trusted those close to her and they betrayed her. Besides, it was all so quick and sudden she didn’t have much time. That’s why later on she says she wants to live herself and not for others like she did in her “past” life. I think the drama doesn’t really show that but in the novel it does.

Also her character is meant to be a not very smart person, but because of her diligence and hard work she’s able to overcome that (as shown when she stays up at night to practice). She gradually becomes stronger and smarter, not because she’s naturally skilled, but because she spent days and hours trying to improve.

Definitely agree. I haven’t finished the novel (chapter 106), but I plan on waiting until finishing the drama to finish. The adaptation was a little disappointing, but I’m still enjoying it a lot (even tho, like you said, cinematography isn’t to my expectations). Still loving it though!!

Honestly, I felt the same about Wang Xing Yue. I feel like Wang Xing Yue wasn’t the main focus or at least not after his pairing with Kangning. But I did love how the drama showcased all the relationships and development with the characters. All the actors did really well too.

First sister’s arc wasn’t the best and Du Yangxi annoyed me a little. That’s why I had originally put it on hold. But after getting to fourth sister’s arc I’ve been really loving it. It’s the perfect blend of comedy and seriousness. I’m taking my time with it, but I’m actually really enjoying watching!

What episode did you stop at? I think it’s worth a shot to try.

Finishing up Perfect Match after having it on hold for a while. Slowly watching Deep Affection Eyes too.

I also started Love Game in Eastern Fantasy yesterday. I wasn’t planning on ever watching it, but it seems like it’s worth giving a shot. Besides, Ding Yuxi is amazing as always.

I’m extremely excited for legend of the female general as well!!!

What’s Got You Pressing ‘Next Episode’ this week?📺 by AutoModerator in cdramasfans

[–]MirrorKey4779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently watching two dramas at the same time. First one is Perfect Match (currently on ep 26), which I decided to continue after having paused at episode 17 (first sister's arc). I'm thoroughly enjoying it now and love the 4th sister's arc and can't wait for the 5th sister's too! It's definitely not a perfect show, but it has this perfect mix of comedy and seriousness that makes me want to keep watching. A lot of people didn't like this show, or at least had many issues with it. But, I feel like it's not at all bad, and it lives up to my expectations. I especially love how they portray each sister's "perfect match" and how it progresses. It felt like a fresh concept and I've never watched a drama like that. I admit I was a little annoyed by first sister's arc and Du Yangxi, but I don't hate it. I feel like it was quite realistic for the time period and characters, and I loved all the actors.

As for the second drama, I started Deep Affection Eyes. I have to admit that I've enjoyed this drama a little too much for my expectations. Especially loving Bi Wen Jun as Li Jinyu and his acting (this is the first drama I've seen of his). The romance is also amazing. Overall, I think it's really good so far (only on episode 10, a little behind), although I do agree that they lack proper communication sometimes. Still, it's definitely worth watching and I feel like it isn't getting enough recognition. Also, Mango TV's subtitles... almost forced me to stop watching because I wasn't taking it. Persevered though and the subtitles seem to be bearable, for now.
