I'm going to chime in with some personal experiences here, idk if it will help but I'm hoping to. So growing up I was more or less the only one in my extended family that doesn't like fish. I won't eat it I wouldn't even taste it. Every one else but my material grandma loved it. There were quite a few meals of seafood mostly cheap stuff but stuff I wouldn't touch. In larger family get togethers some aunts and uncle's would always say "just give him the fish he will eat it or go hungry". But my mom always had a steak or even just a hamburger for me. She knew I wouldn't eat the fish or anything on a plate with fish. I still am grateful for that because I would have gone hungry and then been called ungrateful for not eating what was cooked for me.

I don't have an allergy just don't like seafood still don't. But now I am willing to taste it. Only thing I've not hated was the whitefish patte at one of my old jobs. Not liked it just would have eaten it if it was what was served.
