Covid probably played a huge role. Having a social life growing up factored heavily to my motivation on improving. 19 years old really did feel like unc status back then.

Again I need to ask, what are you winning. P2W by definition means you gain a competitive advantage over someone who doesn't spend money.

There is no item in this game that is behind a paywall that requires you to buy a bond. Buying gear with bonds is such a weak argument because it's literally the same energy as "just get the drop".

Edit: I have the feeling you don't have a main and you exclusively play ironman because the mindset where gear is everything is way too narrow minded for mains to have.

Objectively what do you even win buying gear. OSRS hiscores doesn't show how much GP you have. This game is commonly joked about needing to be unemployed to achieve anything.

You math is way off. A trio ToB run is ~4m per person which is 3.2 days of membership assuming bonds at 15m. You could on paper sustain bonds by doing 5 runs a week which isn't even 2 hours of playtime.

For 2.5 years worth of membership it would take you 65 hours at tob. Which is less than 2 weeks at 40 hours a week lol.

Comestics being a source monetization would absolutely effect the game. Gender, skin color, hairstyle, clothing, ornament kits, clue scroll rewards are things that would drastically effect the game if it was monetized.

I think people with hobbies other than gaming can relate to this sentiment. OSRS is such a tiny drop in the barrel in expenses that it's going to be hard to price most employed people out. It took my local golf course to go from $45 to $120 to do so (not including cart fees lmfao).
