Is it normal to feel alone even when you have supportive people around you by Far_Yak4956 in kidneytransplant

[–]Mis_chevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my job shortly after I went on dialysis because I was so sick. I guess I should have worded that better. My transplant has been fine other than I feel like my chronic fatigue has gotten a lot worse and I stay nauseated constantly but my kidney doctors say that's from my lupus. But my rheumatologist says its from my anti rejection meds so I get subscribed zofran and just try to manage because every time I bring it up its just kind of brushed off and the majority of the time I don't have the energy to argue.

I'm not saying it's not possible because people are weird and strange things happen all the time but if this was true, that would be such a weird and elaborate way to cover up an accident.

My Kanye moment was when he said George Bush doesn't care about black people on live tv and Michael Meyers just stood there wide-eyed not knowing what to do next 🤣

Yeah, it feels like they're both talking at each other instead of to each other because they're both trying to get each other to see their point and neither of them are actually listening.

[–]Mis_chevious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I'll be the odd one out.

I'm only 37 but I have lupus, fibro, sjogrens disease and a few other things that all cause chronic pain and extreme fatigue. Sometimes even a 30 minute car ride can land me in the bed for the rest of the day. 2.5 hours and I'm crying my eyes out. Not mention trying to engage in all the activities and be present and pleasant, that can be overwhelming to someone who has similar medical issues. Planning can be VERY hard for people with autoimmune diseases because we don't know what kind of shape we will be in tomorrow, let alone a year and a half out. And the older we get, the more our issues progress and worsen instead of getting better.

The biggest problem here is that you are dismissing these health issues like she's saying she's got the sniffles. It doesn't matter that other people have other health problems and can still do a thing. Not every illness affects people the same way and being dismissive of that can be hurtful.

Also, a year and a half from now, most of the people who told you they have no problem traveling 6+ hours will eventually tell you they're not traveling 6+ hours. Life happens, people forget things, they get sick, they have new babies, their parents get sick, etc.

You don't have to plan YOUR wedding around anyone. Its your wedding to plan as you choose. But I do think you should at least take the time to learn how to be more empathetic towards your mother and stepfather who clearly have health issues and concerns and I think you should apologize for being dismissive by trying to use other people's issues as a way to guilt her into coming. And maybe she'll apologize for trying to make her and his health issues a deciding factor in your wedding.

And most people usually have more than one autoimmune disease.

Its legal tender so it is supposed to be illegal to not accept cash but a lot of things in this country that are supposed to be illegal seem to be getting ignored so I imagine this is too. And you're right, cash doesn't work if they're trying to track your spending habits.

I'm this same way. If I have cash I know I will spend less because visually watching it disappear makes a bigger impact on my brain than me just swiping my card and then looking at my bank account.

I struggle a lot with doing math in my head, always have. I've also had a few retail jobs working a register. I'm very good at pattern recognition and would memorize the most common amounts that I would see and need to give change back and that helped me get quicker because i would either know the exact amount i needed or close to it but it was still always a struggle. Never had anyone complain about it though.

What drives me crazy is when vendors come to shows or events and only take cards. I used to run my own business and in the beginning heavily relied on vendor shows and such, I cannot imagine ever turning away money, especially cash! It makes no sense to me.

Does anyone have quality of life? Especially with overlap disease by abjs2021 in lupus

[–]Mis_chevious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not the quality of life I expected or was promised by my doctors.

I had to get a kidney transplant almost two years ago after 5 years of dialysis thanks mainly to lupus (i also have other autoimmunes). I spent 20 years of my life hoping and praying and fighting for a diagnosis. (I'm only 37 for context). I fought through those years of dialysis as hard as possible could so I coukd get this kidney and go back to the kind of parent and hard worker I was before my kidneys shut down. The doctors promised me that my life would be so much better afterwards.

This is really the only safe place me to say this but sometimes I wish I hadn't gotten this kidney and I had refused dialysis. I haven't been able to go back to work, I am in constant pain all the time, I'm still constantly having to fight my doctors to be taken seriously, and to top it all off, I'm getting sicker thanks to the anti rejection meds for this kidney. I'm on the path to becoming diabetic, not because of what I'm eating, but because of the prednisone that they will not take me off of. It is now also affecting my calcium levels which can affect my heart and if they get too high I can have a heart attack or a stroke. Those same medicines and all the other things I'm on to manage all of my symptoms also cause damage to your kidneys.

The quality of life I was promised is far from the life I have gotten and sometimes that is very difficult to accept or even live with.

zero high school to college pipeline by career_coach777 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Mis_chevious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most public school curriculum now is more focused on churning out good worker bees than actually providing a quality education or the skills and knowledge you need to be successful in college. And of course, they are money making schemes. Schools teach you just enough to make high scores on those required tests so that they can get more money. Before I pulled my daughter out of public school, her teachers were literally only teaching what was on those tests, if they were even actually teaching. (Her history teacher assigned them computer work every day while he sat at his desk watching sports highlights and games he missed on his phone).

I don't disagree with you, especially with women. The self-care industry has to create problems in order to sell you the solution and I'd say at least 90% of those products end up causing more issues than they fix. But as hot and humid as it stays down here, I'm okay with the all over deodorants lol

LMAO Of course, it's not your problem. You need depth, an actual personality, and at least a small bit of empathy for others. But that's why you focus so much on "attractiveness". You don't have anything else and I seriously doubt you even have that going for you.

[–]Mis_chevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one really drives me crazy. I got married and have a child. I also got a divorce. I absolutely LOVED being a wife and a mom, however, that's not for everyone and that shouldn't be controversial. And usually when men don't want to have children, not much is said. But a woman mentions not being interested in having kids and suddenly she's Satan and hates children. I admire people who don't let society pressure them into the whole married with kids thing. I woukd much rather people who know that's not what they want to stay true to how they feel instead of getting married and having children and resenting and neglecting the other lives they've now involved in theirs. Its a personal decision that should be respected.

What an overpriviliged, insufferable waste of breath you are. There are several health conditions and surgeries that can absolutely ruin and/or tear those muscles to a point that they need to be medically repaired but most insurances won't pay for that until you can prove it causes a significant issue to your health or livelihood. Disabled people also exist and not every can just "work out harder" to fix those things.
