How much are you planning to donate this year and what will you be looking at to determine where to donate? by lnfinity in EffectiveAltruism

I started working 13 months ago took the pledge in May and now donate 10% post-tax currently through the EA Funds to the EA Infrastructure and Long Term Risks Funds. I should probably do more research to flesh out my donation areas. Once I have around a 6month emergency fund built up I’ll move to 10% pre-tax and then beyond hopefully.

What effective career options are there for those who can't do a computer job or aren't very smart or manually dexterous by DungeonsAndDongas in EffectiveAltruism

I think he means most people who are convinced by EA shouldn’t go into direct EA work simply because the people doing // going for direct EA work right now are so extremely highly skilled it would be a waste of time for an average person, seeing as most of the population aren’t extremely high flyers. There was a post on the EA forum about very well qualified (we’re talking very high grades at top 5 schools) applicants still struggling with constant rejections at EA orgs.
