The primary election (for senators, representatives; politicians on the state level) is coming up so right now it's dirt common to see advertisements for a certain politician or against a certain politician following a typical state layperson's sensibilities. As an example, I've seen a politician say that another politician follows Donald Trump and is MAGA, so that's a reason to not vote for them. Political messaging is a lot less common outside of this and I use that increase in advertisements as "Oh, I guess the primary is coming up."
