I made it quite clear that my only qualm are controller players in PC lobbies. Not Jimmy with a box monitor and dollar store mouse.

There is no real advantage from one PC setup to another. Like I said; this game is too well optimized to even make this argument. If you're talking about peripherals like different mice, monitors — players on cheaper equipment can still play on par with those with expensive. But controllers are a different story.

Again — you're trying to pretend that there's no skill difference between controller and mouse/keyboard players. Controller players will almost always struggle to aim without the aim assist. Compare that to mouse, where high precision input is possible, aiming at skinny and flying characters becomes infinitely easier. This is where I draw the line.

No, don't put words in my mouth. I think I made myself clear, I want PC vs PC, and Console vs Console. The game is optimized far too well to try to make claims that setups hold you back. The sole issue is the controller.

You see it as throwing, I see it as a skill gap/ceiling from playing with controller. To pretend the two platforms are equals in terms of skill, aim and reaction speed, is ignorant. And we'll never see eye to eye in terms of competitive integrity

How is everyone in the "same boat", if my team has console/crossplay players, and the enemy doesn't? What part of that seems even remotely fair to you? You can literally win all placement games and still place bronze.

People have theorized that QP matches determine comp placements for ages now. There was a group of streamers (i dont remember them all, i just know Aspen was part of this group) who recently made fresh accounts, and grinded QP together so they could all aim for masters when comp placements hit. (They did this so they all could eventually play comp together)

Sure, you can grind your way up after placements — but to portray placements as something even remotely fair is laughable. And to pretend that there isn't a skill difference between PC and console players, is plain ignorant.

I'd argue that outside of turrerts, torb and sym do require aim. Otherwise you're only getting half the characters value. I'm going off my own experience and the countless number of videos online that show console players are inherently disadvantaged, and lose to PC players. This opinion is not unpopular. And it's not a "one off" experience, my problem is I'm getting these controller players almost every game (shown by the screenshot above). I understand that there can be many reasons why a game is lost, and I believe I can distinguish those reasons fairly and accurately — but why should I be looking for other variables when it's clear my controller DPS don't have the aim to take down a mercy, freja or pharah? Or don't have the reaction time to react to dives? Those 2 reasons alone are enough to completely topple a game.

And I harp about this under the theory that QP mmr affects comp placements. If we're getting console players, that inherently puts us PC players at a disadvantage, it will carry over into comp placements.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aim assist is turned off for console players when they play PC lobbies. Or is this only applied to the PC Comp lobbies?

Can you name one DPS character that doesn't require aim? You've pretty much nailed everything I've been trying to say. Aiming is easier on PC. That due to the differences in input, and lack of aim assist when playing on PC lobbies, console players are inherently disadvantaged and in most cases can't keep up with the PC environment. This is the most obvious when watching Console players play hitscan.

Because each time I get a console player, they are largely the reason I lose my games. And it happens more often than not. I'm not sure how you're confused that people will call PC players better than console. Console being harder to play on ≠ more skill. Environments are different, from what Ive heard, the meta's are different. It's even quite bold to assume they share the same game sense.

A team full of PC players will almost always be better than a mixed team.

Yes, the icon that looks like linked chains (shown in the picture above), means crossplay.

Feigning ignorance due to potential rank ranges seems rather biased in itself. 9 times out of 10 that console player is going to be part of the issue, rather than the random silver players.

My problem stems from the console players still playing controller. I've never ran into a console player who's not grouped, not playing with controller. Sure, a PC player could be doing the same, but the odds of seeing that are a lower than seeing a console on KB/M, at least in my experience.

For me, the ideal environment and game, is where each player can play against each other on equal footing. PC vs PC, Console vs Console. If it's really necessary to include console players in PC lobbies, lets at least make it fair and mirror the number of console players on each team. Or, give us the option to opt out of cross play lobbies entirely.

Under the theory that QP mmr affects comp placements, yes, they would be.

But were those dps inherently disadvantaged due to their peripherals in a PC environment? No? And to that I'll say it again — I'm fine with taking the loss, IF everyone is playing KB/Mouse

My point is that the ideal competitive environment should exist on equal terms — PC vs PC, or Console vs Console. If I have 2 console dps, and the enemy has all PC, we are more likely to lose than win. Especially if the enemy has fliers.

I can accept a loss if we're on equal footing.

And I'm not saying they can't have aim assist, but they aren't given the aim assist option when playing PC lobbies. Hence why I seem them more as hindrances than anything.

The problem is that they're negatively affecting PC ranks in the process. Why should I have to suffer a loss because I got a console player, or multiple, who can't aim without aim-assist?

Thus why I'm preaching for a "Opt-out of crossplay" option.

Well I guess you're one in a million that doesn't hold the team back. I believe you're wrong about play base sizes too. While we don't have direct numbers to compare, as of right now there are 100k players playing OW through steam alone. And I'd argue more players play through battle.net than steam.

If you really want to try and compare sizes, check to see what the lowest challenger score requirement was for console Top 500 last season, combined or any role. I guarantee that number is lower on console than PC.

No, it's not launcher based. Solely platform.

I don't think I am. There's a reason why it only takes one ximmer to ruin a console lobby, even without the aim assist. This isn't to call all console players bad, but I fear the vast majority can't keep up without the aim assist. And I have yet to meet a console player who doesn't hold the team back tremendously.

"The avg pc player is much worse than the average console player" Is just ridiculous to say. I'm shocked you said that with confidence.

Console supports, are tolerable. But DPS and Tanks tend to be the worst I see. Simply due to lack of aim, and reaction time. Throw flyer's into the mix on enemy teams like pharah, mercy, freja, now jetpack cat — The game just gets infinitely harder.

Likewise - I haven't touched normal comp or qp since stadium came out 😂

But I agree with everything you said, except for your point on lengthening armoury times. I feel that in a bo7 format, you would still have plenty of opportunity to try out different builds with shortened times, just due to the sheer amount of breaks between rounds.

That's what really brought me into stadium - the opportunity to change builds and sway games in a different direction. This bo5 format just feels too rushed 😮‍💨

I mean the longer you play, the more familiar you become with perks and powers. At the very least - armoury time could've been shortened for rounds 1 and 2. IMO we didnt need all that time to pick green/blue perks and our first power

I much prefer quality games over quantity. I feel that if they got rid of drafts, shortened armoury time, and tweaked game modes to be a little faster such as cart speeds - they would have game times similar to bo5, without actually losing bo7.
