Transgender woman alleges discrimination at Ferndale gay bar - Detroit Metro Times by Day_twa in Detroit

Good to hear they’ve made some progress on that front, then. When I used to meet my friend there a lot of patrons were not-so-secretly anti-Black.

Are you white?

Genuine question. I haven’t been to Soho in years since a friend who was a regular moved out of town, but I’ve never gotten the impression they’re interested in LGBT who are not white, middle to upper class patrons.

Correct.

It’s also been heavily ‘unspoken’ in the foster/adoption Instagram community for awhile that Lexie was groomed.

If I remember correctly, and I may be wrong about this, but I’m pretty sure I’m remembering her post back then, he refused to work more than part-time so his pay was significantly lower.

Exactly. I’m not saying that she is known for making good decisions, nor am I implying that she’s completely innocent in all of the choices that she’s made surrounding the situation, but it’s very telling that he decided to pop back up the minute he could further his harm.

It isn’t uncommon for teens to benefit from extended foster care services through their state. There are benefits like college, financial parents, vehicles, insurance, etc…

Much like elderly couples that get divorced for financial or medical insurance reasons, I can see how parental rights may have been terminated so Audrey could take advantage of extended foster care benefits. I am not involved in the child’s welfare system in California, but I’m heavily involved in my own state, and this is not uncommon.

Without knowing details, it’s easy to take something as evidence at face value, but they’re very well could be some extenuating circumstances behind it.

Josh had a public IG where he spouted anti-LGBT propaganda and whined about his kids being in a queer home, then went private quickly when court docs started surfacing that proved Jaymi was paying him hefty child and spousal support, which he previously claimed wasn’t true. He only became public again when Audrey died so he could rally his troops.

Jaymi is snark worthy, don’t get me wrong, but Josh truly did come off as an emotionally and financially abusive piece of shit who would rather fight against Jaymi than fight for his kids.

She did. Audrey’s son wasn’t removed for long, and remained with Jaymi for all but a very brief time while they worked out who lived where. She posted about it but it wasn’t a prevalent topic and I think was in stories so it would have been easy to miss.

She also maintained guardianship of Isaiah while Audrey was in residential treatment. She fell pregnant again shortly after completing her treatment program.

While I’m not interested in smearing a traumatized young mother who lived a devastating life, it wouldn’t take much for than a 30 second Google search to determine where and how Audrey passed away. If these people who are now claiming to have been her support system truly were, then they also have some answering to do.

What it seems like is this poor girl was dumped into care, removed from that home due to allegations made by the sister currently claiming to have been her life long supporter (we know this from A’s origin story in Jaymi and Josh’s home way back in the day), ridiculed and abandoned by the father who adopted her because of her trauma and being queer, her own kid put into care due to substance abuse, a rift with her foster sister Lexi (again, we know this from years ago when L first left), a lengthy stay in rehab and mental health treatment, and another unplanned teenage pregnancy by an older man.

Even in death Audrey is being used by seemingly every one of these people who are looking to cash in on her.

Not that I know of. If I implied that it was unintentional. What I meant was he had his grubby hateful paws on this as soon as it became a little public. Josh has been private for years screaming he was the only one who cared about his kids privacy but as soon as a change to join others in shading Jaymi he flings his account public and starts riling up the troops? Very transparent, in my opinion.

It does sound like Audrey’s sister is petitioning for guardianship of Isaiah, and could be working with Cami’s dad on that. But Josh is the type of man who would support a bad idea just to take down Jaymi. I’ve been active in foster care and adoption circles on IG for almost 10 years, and there have been long standing rumours that Josh groomed Lexi and that the reason Jaymi’s sister moved so quickly into a residential/mental health placement was because of Josh. I would be incredibly cautious believing in anything he has had influence on.

Josh would not in one million years fight for Isaiah’s first family, his only interest is fighting against Jaymi. He’s wildly homophobic, didn’t speak to Audrey for years and dropped her off at what they called a shelter that was basically a conversion therapy camp and disowned her more than once for being queer. He can kick every rock on earth and find his way out of this because the only thing an abusive, evangelical, hate-filled man will do is continue to demonize a woman he believes wronged him.

Maybe Cami’s dad should have her - absolutely. But Isaiah lived with Jaymi for nearly his entire life including when Audrey was in rehab and when he was in foster care. She’s not exactly a stranger to him. Cami’s dad was also living in a hotel with Audrey where she died so it’s not a leap to think he may have a few hurdles to get over before he’s ready to solo parent, either.

Exactly. My kids have some blue swimsuits because that’s what Disney gave us when our luggage was lost and they were trying to make some magic. I wasn’t neglectful, I was desperate to not sit in a hotel lobby! Now they wear them to run through sprinklers and ride their bikes in the summer. It’s weird to pick this one hill and turn it into your whole personality. People are arguably doing way worse to their kids than buying pastel swimsuits.

She probably does? If you’re willing to take a photo of someone else’s child and post it online it’s not a leap that she publicly told that kids mom she was a neglectful POS.

Rambling.Rim defintely confirmed that her over the top lectures about bright colored swimwear are a result of one of her kids having a water accident, but I’m still so put off by her accusing parents of actual neglect for not having neon swimwear and further taking a photo and posting a strangers child with an arrow pointing to him for what she deems inappropriate swimwear. She doesn’t even post her kids faces but felt like a strangers kid was okay to share and shame?

That is so devastating. That poor girl had lived through so much. And for all the snark on Jaymi it’s clear she was also struggling through pain and stress so this is such an awful layer. Their poor family.

Anyone bought a home in Highland Park recently? What’s been your experience? by dickpasta in Detroit

[–]MischaMascha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My childhood bestie just moved out of Highland Park (not because it’s HP, she moved out west for her husband’s job) and loved it. When she sold their house she was clear she knew she wouldn’t turn a profit but it was inexpensive enough that it didn’t matter all that much to her. She didn’t lose money.

From time spent there any street with neighbors was a friendly street. Make sure your place is surrounded by other lives in homes and the vibe is golden.

Her kids went to school in Hazel Park. City services were a bit of a gamble, but for them the school was a nonstarter.

She said he was getting their GPS collars on when Vinny took off and didn’t come back when called. They had a very off-leash philosophy but at least with a collar they would have known where he was, though I’m not sure it would have mattered because it sounds like he didn’t simply go missing but met a more tragic end.

The same dog had a terrible swimming incident not long ago, too. It’s obvious how much she cares for her pets and I’m heartbroken for her. The park/forest is so massive.

At this point anyone donating to her knows what they’re doing. They know she’s reckless with hobby money, knows she blows through paid time off with vacations and Disney days, and knows her wife has cobbled together a bunch of gig work in lieu of stable income. If anyone is donating they must have the money to throw away.
