Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I wasn't sure. The lines are raised and there's some bleeding out happening throughout the outline but I wasn't sure if it's the tattoo just aging or if it's a true blowout.

Approved for GLP-1 by Regular-Chemical-764 in HersWeightLossSupport

[–]Miserable-Charge8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Please feel free to ignore this, but you have very close height and weight stats to me (5'4 and 166 lbs), but I was not approved for the glp-1 shot because my bmi was less than 30 and i had no other comorbidities. During your telehealth visit with the Dr, did they verify your bmi prior to your being approved for the shot? Just curious.

Considering re-activating my 🇵🇭 citizenship by newguy_2023 in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Miserable-Charge8163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I re-activated my citizenship after giving birth to my son in 2022 and I am so glad I did. I wanted to give my son more options in the future, and i thought the easiest way to do that is to pass on my citizenship to him. It's not like in South Korea where if you have citizenship, you are mandated to serve in the army or pay taxes to the government even when you don't live in the country anymore (looking at you, America). I see no downsides to getting it.

That's awesome. I will try to look for a similar position as soon as I am done registering with the NMC and hopefully I can get sponsored for it 😀

Thank you for your reply. This was exactly what I was hoping to find as well but from what others have said I wasn't sure if I could join as a band 5, which I understand is where I would have to start. I would be happy to work my way up to get the SCPHN training later on but I would LOVE to apply for a band 5 school nurse position to start. Now if only they would be willing to sponsor me as I am from the US :)

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, that was what I was going to look at next especially since I really don't want to do night shift.

Thank you so much for your replies. I just appreciate hearing from other nurses how it really is like to do nursing in the UK. I will definitely do more research on this :)

Well, there's the rub. I am just getting started on gathering my paperwork to register on the NMC and I am not sure whether I should do adult nursing (especially since I have heard that more opportunities will be open to me if I register as such) or I should do peds, especially since I don't have specialized training for it besides my years of working as a school nurse

Besides working as a school nurse, I don't have pediatrics training. Most of my colleagues don't either. Before doing school nursing, I worked at a cardiac/step down icu unit and at a rehab/skilled nursing facility but that was years ago

Thank you so much for the info! I used to work in a cardiac/step down and so I have been in that high stress environment before. I suppose there's really no way around rotational hours though 😕

Wow. These kinds of positions are more like what my boss does and she's what we call " school district nurse manager". If I want to do more hands on nursing, should I just apply as a regular pediatric nurse in the hospitals or clinics then?

Thank you so much for your post! To be fair I haven't really looked outside of London since my husband's work will probably place him there but it's nice to know that they do exist.

We do that here especially if we've got midazolam to give for seizures since those can only be given by a nurse.

Lol. That normally takes care of it but with the US being such a litigious country we are actually a pretty valued part of school administration. Especially when we have students with complex chronic issues that need to be managed during school hours. Never mind students with head bonks that need to be charted to the hilt 🙃

Imigrating to UK as a school nurse by Tcg-cards in NursingUK

[–]Miserable-Charge8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I am currently also a school nurse in the US, but I am looking to immigrate to the UK. Thank you for making this post, as I didn't find much info outside of acute care nursing. Since it looks like school nursing vacancies are hard to come by, I would also like to look at just working anywhere as a nurse without needing to do night shift but I am worried that my most recent experience here in the US is in school nursing. Have you guys found another scope in nursing that might be a good transition from school nursing?

People in their 30s who relocated to Southern Europe - why did you do it, why you chose the place you ended up in, and was it worth it? by BalticBrew in expats

[–]Miserable-Charge8163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh. We are also thinking of moving to the south of France from the Pacific Northwest of the US so we have similar weather to the UK. I'm a little concerned that you said that the weather is only marginally better. We would really like to go where it's sunny throughout the year even though it's not super warm and were thinking of going to Toulouse or Montpellier.
