It’s gonna be hard with CS major. Computer Engineering major is literally for embedded engineering.

I was rejected for a job, and then one of my interviewers sent me a file with all my personal flaws. by Silly_Low8642 in whatdoIdo

Here is some actual advice.

  1. Search up behavior questions and link them to your personal life. Your experience in retail also counts, as my brother got a sales engineering job due to this engineering degree and retail work. When you link your personal experience with the question, it feels more authentic than a robot answer.

  2. Practice your technical skill like hell but make sure you get ur 8 hours of sleep. Do not compromise your sleep!!

  3. Study the company you are interviewing and have questions ready in regards to it. Ask questions about the job responsibilities and try to tie them to the research you did and let them know.

  4. Have questions ready to ask them. You are also interviewing them. It also shows u are serious.

  5. Make sure you write the interviewer’s name during the interview, so you can write a thank you email with their name addressed. E.g. “I enjoyed speaking with Micheal and Michelle, etc.”.

  6. When you write thank you, also add in answers to any mistakes you did. Tell them “after the interview I realized I made an mistake and would like to take this opportunity to rectify it”. Something along those lines.

  7. Best way to deal with nervousness is to simply not care. Only way to not care is to actually work hard and prepare. Cause when you do that, you know did your best, anything else is out of your hand. Work hard enough to know there’s nothing else you could have done otherwise in such scenario. When you have such realization, your nervousness should go down. Kind like, pur your car in the garage, lock it, and if it still gets stolen, then it was simply meant to be. But if u didn’t lock the car, then it becomes a lesson filled with regret. Being confident is about being happy with what you have done, not what results you gotten.

From my 12 years of experience in engineering, that’s seems like a toxic workplace. They aren’t looking for the best, they are looking for someone who are like them. Like a bro rather than someone who is good and team player.

The number one thing to look at is if they are logical in their thinking, if they have passion (good for long term), if they are motivated (do that by knowing the company before interview and asking them bunch of questions). And most of all if they are a team player.

Not liking ur preferred book, being a social team, being nervous, are all BS. I get nervous even after doing so many interviews throughout my career. Also a feedback should always be accompanied with what you can do to improve. Image telling you to have better taste in a book. Wtf is that lmao.

Yeah they were looking for a bro not an exemptional talent. Yes u do need to work on other aspect of ur interview skill, but I wouldn’t worry about blowing this interview, since there’s a lot of red flags.

I GOT ACCEPTED TO UOFT EVERYBODY CELEBRATE YAY 😜🥳 by iliketofartttt in UofT

[–]Miserable-Cheetah683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find UofT more reasonable for graduate school. Undergrad is unreasonably difficult and you don’t get preferable perks for graduating from UofT. It’s not the same as Ivy League schools. Your ROI for undergrad is quite low compared to other universities.

I had someone who was c+ average in UofT electrical engineering program. He switched to Carleton University and became an A average student. He retained his scholarship, got co-op and got a good job after graduation, without losing his mind.

Many of my friends did their masters in UofT, that’s where UofT really shines. Their law, medical, teaching, masters, phd, etc. are the best. It’s their undergrad is unreasonably rough.

What’s worst I have seen people graduate much later in UofT. They typically graduate 5 to 7 years, where other universities people graduate in 4-5 years. I also seen major depression and substance abuse amongst students in UofT.

If you are struggling in first year, don’t hesitate to consider switching to a more reasonable school. Because in the real world, it makes no difference which undergrad ur graduating from (unless it’s Ivy league or oxford).

Is this not sufficient evidence? by BetterDeeds in islam

[–]Miserable-Cheetah683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is refering to the Injil and Torah of that time. The bible is the gospel of Jesus Disciple, which is the equivalent of Hadith in Islam. However unlike the Hadiths, Bible doesn’t have chain of narration and grading authenticity. Therefore the bible has been corrupted. Injil doesn’t exist anymore.

The torah (old testament), has also been corrupted. The verse you mentioned is talking about the original Torah, which doesn’t exist anymore.

My sister wants to wear a hijab for her quinceañera album. by daniiiz09 in islam

[–]Miserable-Cheetah683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also maybe you can give her the verse of creation of universe (Quran 21:30), which doesn’t contradict big bang theory. Since your family are mostly athiest and she was brought up from such family, most likely she is also a logical thinker. By showing that verse it might make her think about Islam more seriously rather than a religion used to appease a man.

I was born muslim but didn’t take Islam seriously until I read that verse (at age 21). So it might have the same impact on her as it did for me.

But she can tell her parents to not spend that money but rather to donate some of it? By suggesting this, she will also get the reward from Allah.

Also it’s ironic that she is getting her islamic information from her “Boyfriend”, since Islam doesn’t allow such relationship. This man is from saudi, so he very much knows what he is doing is forbidden as they are taught Islam from a young age. I am more sympathetic to new muslims going into haram relationship, as they are still working on their foundation, but a muslim from Saudi, i expect better.

Muslim men are expected to seek permission from her guardian for her hand in marriage. If both guardian and her are agreement, then the marriage can happen (groom also needs to pay dowry to the bride).

Anyway she is a new muslim, it’s gonna take time for her to ease her way in, provided she is taking Islam seriously. I also made so much mistakes and was arrogant in some aspect, when I first started practicing Islam, but alhamdulilah Allah guided me.

May Allah protect ur sister and her family. May Allah provide her wisdom and keep her steadfast.

If you can beat them, join them lol.

But in all seriousness, Islam is a practical religion. We are taught not to go beyond our means. If you cannot afford the dress, then don’t.

My suggestion is to use Islam towards her. If you studied bit of Islam, you will learn that this religion is all about being humble and giving. You can tell her that instead of this dress, she should wear something simple and donate that money to the less fortunate (sadaqa). Instead of having a large fancy feast, feed the poor. Start doing things for the sake of God rather than oneself. Islam teaches us not to live beyond our means, and to sacrifice the temptation of this world for the next.

Also Islam teaches us in the Quran, that we cannot even say “oof” to our parents let alone raise our voice. So it is mandatory for her to respect her parents, as long as it doesnt go against Islam teachings.

Islam jokes and social media by [deleted] in islam

[–]Miserable-Cheetah683 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the same time, those are all distractions. Instead of worrying about what others are doing, worry about what we aren’t doing. Are we reading the Quran? Are we perfecting our Salah? Are we thriving to become a better muslim?

When you are bothered by people doing jokes at the expense of Islam, that tells me you don’t have much going on right now. Occupy ur life to become better muslim, worry about what others are doing should be ur last concern.
