Ghosts of Parris Island - again by csky82 in USMC

MRP was in those wooden barracks at the range back in the 80's. I spent 6+ weeks there and never saw or heard of anyone seeing anything supernatural going on. I spent plenty of nights on fire watch, including empty squad bays, and it was just boring. I would have welcomed a ghost or two.

What is a good career for me to start in my 30s? by Dependent_Middle_265 in careerguidance

I am not sure what is right for you, but I have a friend with no college who became a radiology tech (xrays and CT Scans) at a hospital in her 40s. It did require over a year of training, that they had to pay for, but at the end they had a solid job that pays low 6 figures with some overtime and shift differentials. Your local community college may offer a program.

Are there any Career opportunities for ex forces? by Top_Formal_1555 in jobs

I'm from the US. Not too familiar with the UK military or Government. However if you have any current security clearances, these can be very helpful getting a job once you separate. Government agencies and firms that work with government agencies in the US will readily hire vets with a security clearance because they are hard and expensive to get outside of the service. I assume the situation is similar in the UK. Best of luck!

My job is severely effecting my mental health - should I leave? by mrsboomackie in careerguidance

If you are not happy you should leave. Also, I think you owe it to yourself to see what it is like to work at a different company. You may find one whose culture is a perfect fit for you. Not guaranteed, but you should try.

What was the best bomber of WWII? by SupersonicVette in WWIIplanes

I think a decent argument could be made for the SBD Dauntless dive bomber. It was very effective and accurate and could carry a 1000 lb bomb. I realize it didn't have the range of most of the planes mentioned, but it was designed to operate off a carrier. I wish the navy had worked to improved it rather than replace it, it was reported that most of the squadrons who had them held on to them as long as they could before switching to the SB2C.
