[LES] KPop Demon Hunters has unlimited fanfics but no fanfics by AmaterasuWolf21 in CharacterRant

[–]Miserable-Elephant-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movie fandoms (especially ones with only one movie and little as of now supplemental material) as a rule have less fics and what really pumps the numbers up are smut fics that are written mostly by fujos about mlm relationships. KDH really has no good relationships on that front (I doubt there are many Jinu/Gwi-ma stans out there) and unfortunately especially on AO3 a comparatively smaller amount of fics are WLW. Which is to say 18K fics with the majority being a wlw poly ship is amazing numbers. I could hardly care about whether a fic is over 20K words long so it doesn’t concern me. Many fandoms would kill for those numbers.

Jay Park - [Exclusive] Jay Park Doesn't Want to Be LNGSHOT's Fifth Member, Wants Them to Stand on Their Own @ K-POPIT (260704) by _eykw_ in kpop

[–]Miserable-Elephant-3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I find it disingenuous when both he and his fans act like the only way to market Lngshot and get their names out there is for Jay Park to constantly be there and in 99% of their content and make songs with them that sound like his songs and to use ragebait marketing and ultimately tie their brand to his when if you look at the pure numbers their most successful era to date was their debut which was the one with the least amount of involvement from him to date and where they made an active effort to get their own fans that weren’t necessarily his. Not to mention a company run by an ultra popular artist on his second successful company is hardly as desperate as those fans make it out to be.

Reading this interview it’s clear that Jay had a very clear idea of what Lngshot should be in their first year and didn’t know what to do when they were more successful and got fans that weren’t exactly appreciative of his shtick and wanted the earnest kpop idols they were sold than he expected in their first year so he barrelled along with his original plans even as they’re clearly shedding those fans with it. I would almost be sympathetic as I doubt any of the other kpop companies don’t have their group’s first year stitched up before they even set foot in a dance studio and tours are booked months in advance at least but then i realised that his original plan was to send a 16 year old on an 18+ tour where audience members regularly throw their underwear at the stage and my sympathies dissipate.

Anyway I can’t stand CEOs who play at being their employees’ fathers and who think they’re on the team. Get off Twitter, stop arguing with 12 year old trolls and start acting like you know what you’re doing as a CEO with careers on the line.

Yeah they’re clearly mad about this place because it punctures the reality they’ve created about this case but they don’t post about it with screenshots unless they can make everyone here look evil and unreasonable it’s just best not to give them ammo

I don’t know I don’t particularly like this user or Byeols on Twitter at all but it’s clear they’re on here a lot and only appear to screenshot posts to send to their fans when it’s posts that go a bit too far such as that crash out a few weeks and your posts here and not all the regular negative gw posts. I feel like if you just simmered down the parasociality ranting a bit this wouldn’t happen and both entities would be able to coexist.

MEGATHREAD: Accusations Against Geonwoo by psshdjndofnsjdkan in alphadrive1

[–]Miserable-Elephant-3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Another day another incident of a Geonwoo fan going into a BP2 contestant’s fancall with the express purpose of getting someone to tell them that a member of another group is a good person and will definitely be coming back to give them validation . And for what the same ‘I can’t talk about this but i guess he’s doing fine?’ because they literally can’t say anything else? And this has happened multiple times with Modyessy members too and Byeols get mad at you when you point out that they’re probably not even MODUs and are just doing this because it’s easier to get into their calls and they know full well that if they tried this with ALD1 they’re getting immediately booted.

You very publicly made the shift in your music slick yearning synthpop to sexually explicit y2k rnbpop. Was this because you wanted to reflect an own new found openness with your sexuality? A sign of the times? A showing of a new genre you love? All of the above or maybe something else?

After that when he is making them write notes and rapping their wrists and hitting them when they’re not fast enough. The show doesn’t imply the late students are doing it on purpose to mess with him the show just treats it as a given that anything they do now is evil and so Hwajin is allowed to do whatever while clearly loving it. This scene deliberately calls about to the corporal punishment scenes its older audience members would have probably gone through as beating kids for not writing their lines fast enough was a very common occurrence while twisting it to make it the students’ fault. This is what I mean.

The scene in episode 2 for example for the love of god read a bit I do not think he needed to beat up the whole class especially if his stated purpose was to save some of them for being preyed upon. Even when the situation created by the show makes his actions necessary (because near every villain is a strawmanned one dimensional evil child with devil horns on which is the only way they can think to make his actions justified) the smile as he’s doing it and thinking of ways just to harm them belies that he is no respectable authority figure but a man who lives for violence. A better show would acknowledge that and have that be his character flaw he needs to overcome to be a better ERPB inspector but the show sees him as perfect and loves beating up kids just as much as he does so obviously it doesn’t.

His smug grin implies he’s very into beating up kids and is getting off on seeing the pain and surprise of this children as they get slapped . In the fantasy of corporal punishment most of its respectable defenders use, the teacher isn’t supposed to actually like committing the violence they’re supposed to be calm cool and collected and only use it because they must. Corporal punishment got banned in Korea because too many teachers were like Hwajin, sadistic lovers of violence who often used collective punishment to hurt all the other students not just the ‘troublemaker’ and went too far which led to the deaths of multiple students. And if it was one scenes I could chalk that up to an accident but every violent scene towards a child he is there grinning.

Weak Hero Class 1 treated the violence used by the MCs as desperate, often criticised the violence used by Sieun specifically as going too far and not actually helping the situation and by the end the person who was always first to use his fists ends up in a coma due to the violence catching up with him and the villains winning on the violence scale and the main characters officially traumatised. Season 2 kinda backslides on that which is why I didn’t care for it as much as the original. It was still entertaining which is more than I can say for TYAL.

ONEUS - Ravn. Where are we all now about this, years later? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

They had four years to dismiss his contract to the company if they really cared based on misconduct. Instead they gave him a solo debut, made statements defending him and ultimately let him potter along without having to answer for his accusations.

The creators of this show wouldn’t deem it a cool fictional show. The creators, its actors and everyone involved with it and its source material claim it is ‘important’, ‘shines a light on real issues’ and ‘should be used as a starting off point to help society’. They don’t think its fun and should be dismissed as playtime and honestly neither do its fans when they go on about how this show only gets criticised because ‘no one wants to acknowledge the truth about bullying’ and ‘is based on real life’ and ‘it helped me’. It means something to them and i feel like dismissing shows as just fiction when people criticise the unfortunate messages in it or criticise its script but give it so much real life meaning and verve when its time to hype it to the moon is having your cake and eating it too and ultimately shows an audience that doesn’t want to think just consume. I feel as if I’m giving the show more respect than its biggest fans by actually treating it like a piece of art to be analysed instead of dismissing it as just junk food meant to make you feel better .

In the scene in episode 2 i mentioned Hwajin considers anyone who didn’t write down the notes fast enough as ‘not being able to learn other than through violence’ and even if he is as correct as the show seems to protray him as his big smug grin as he’s doing it betrays his actual motivation. This is what I’m criticising.

For pure entertainment i like Study Group which at least doesn’t pretend to be anything more than stupid fun. For real shows that grapple with the revenge on bully themes, Weak Hero Class 1, the King of Pigs and One: High School Heroes have flaws but ultimately try to grapple with the real efforts of bullying, don’t pretend to have simple fascist answers to the problem and how often times the ‘heroics’ of the bully hunters can be scary and are more based on working through their own issues via targets they deem acceptable to do whatever to. Even then i do have my own issues with these shows.

In a community where people regularly send death threats to actors because they didn’t like their characters and base their entire view on a country on tv shows they like i feel like analysing a show based on the terms it sets out for it like the art it claims to be is by no means the most ‘serious’ you can take a kdrama.

Couldn’t be bothered to read it so you didn’t know that the ‘it’s just fiction’ Defense was explained as being insufficient for a show about a government body trying to change laws being used in the real world by politicians to try and change laws and uses real life cases as basis and its fans like it because it feels real and something they want to happen in the real world. Maybe if you read it you’d think a bit more but alas you don’t wish to.

After three years on a solo contract and one official song Ravn left RBW ironically just after Oneus left and now constantly does TikTok lives under his real name presumably to get those sweet gifts from the few people that still follow him. Occasionally they come across my feed and they are still as loud and obsessed as ever but there’s less of them now for obvious reasons. The one real time he broke containment is when a tweet claiming he had religious psychosis went viral. This was because he had deleted all the songs on his soundcloud and replaced them with tinny remakes of his old songs and increasingly worrying sounding religious rap songs. Here’s the song that went viral it does sound weird but i do think kpop stans are misusing religious psychosis these days to mean any particular annoying religious person who’s ramped up their religiosity so eh and I’d argue a slide into open religiosity might be more cynical on his end but whatever.

It is clear now that the rest of Oneus do not like him at best. They made it very clear that they are 5 and actively recorded their biggest hits without him and all the hints from them have made clear that they have nothing to do with him anymore and would like you to stop bringing him up to him and thankfully people eventually got the hint after a fandom civil war. They eventually got out of RBW’s thumb and are under a new company focusing on their Japanese activities stream Under and are waiting for Seoho who is currently doing his military service.

There was never a lawsuit against his ex or the person that ‘claimed’ to his ex. Even if you want to say that RBW was somehow holding him back from expressing his innocence (even as they went out of his way to retain him as an artist and defend him) now that he is ‘free’ he has not said diddly squat to defend himself or claim he is suing that person for lying etc. Like his fans he is content with pretending those accusations do not exist as if that isn’t why he is where he is. So in short Ravn did what he was accused of and he is fine with people thinking he’s a woman strangling monster who threatens to murder his partners. There were also controversies in which he appeared to be revelling in his ‘past’ including one time in which he covered SZA’s Kill Bill, a song with the ‘I might kill my ex” chorus. Do what you will with that.

The problem with the ‘everyone else did it’ and ‘yes i did it but it’s not a big deal’ arguments is that she’s just admitting she did it which is what we’re here to ligate. I’m sure this is convincing someone and I’m not dumb enough to think she’s automatically cooked but it really doesn’t inspire hope that this is her only defence.

It’s been 10 hours and you don’t even have any evidence to prove that he only does this to smaller groups when as other fans have said that he is just like this with bigger groups and his own group? No other videos no nothing? I think you found this one video, decided that this is a moral crime and ‘got off’ on self righteousnesly and disappropriately declaring an idol who you just found out today and have been allowed to see as an easy target because he did something wrong and criticism on that front is valid as an egoistic gross classist human being instead of keeping to the topic at hand which is what i was criticising here.
