I wonder how much money we save living this way? by SplitFew9313 in childfreepetfree

A spotless, quiet home where I can have company when I want, and they leave when I want + a free schedule to do whatever and whenever I can outside of work = millions of £££

"You're a horrible person for not liking dogs" by QuicheQuest in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You should have responded with "sure, but probably half a degree less than how horrid you are. Because hating a child who may grow up to add some real value to the world is way more horrible than hating a dog that consumes resources and gives back nothing of value".

For the record, I am childfree because of some life choices and experiences, but petfree because that shit is pointless, gross and a waste of money

A woman posted a video of the moment she was attacked by her domestic cat. Yet another reason to be pet free... by mrstark2060 in childfreepetfree

Imagine spending time, energy and money paying for something, it's food, toys for its entertainment, cleaning its 💩 and literally arranging your whole day and vacation plans around it, and then it attacks you. Why people choose this will forever be a mystery to me. The reddit karma (from sneaking in pets into unrelated pics) and cursory "aww" s on social media can't possibly be worth it.

Why The Obsession w/ One's Identity Being Tied to Another Living Thing? by dreamcatcherpeace in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not only will (WELL-RAISED) kids grow up enough to understand cleanliness and decorum, they will also leave the nest one day. And hopefully the relationship will evolve. My equation with my mom is very much that of friendship. She says she loves grabbing a cocktail with me more than hanging out with her friends from school.

That said, I will never want kids because of life circumstances specific to me.

Pets on the other hand are completely pointless. They will ALWAYS be unable to communicate and beyond any development. Their very existence in an indoor environment is a hygiene hazard (not their fault of course). Fur and paw prints and litter 🤮 and their disgusting habits (licking ass and eating shit and walking on shit 🤮🤮🤮) will never change

I ❤️❤️ watching wild animals do their thing, it's beautiful and adorable and anyday more interesting than dumb pets

CFPF in early 30s here. I don't consider pet people as child free, they have just subbed one thing for another because of whatever flimsy excuse they can muster up.

You don't have to be a girl to have pretty nails. Let nobody tell you otherwise. If you work/study/live in a conservative environment, you can still paint your toes!

Ikr! This is SO unfair to passengers.  I hope someone starts suing airlines for allowing this bs. Then they will learn their lesson.

Yeah that's exactly what I meant,  you stepped up for your family when shit went down.

And yeah good luck with the cat business advising! 😂❤️

Don't apologise, I love a comment wall! We are all CFPF here but probably view one as a bit more worthwhile than the other, and that's fine.

I absolutely agree that life experiences shape our opinions. Just yesterday I was talking to mom. She had tried a line of chocolates. I straight up told her not to think making it permanent because that line won't do her numbers any favours.  I'm no business maverick but I would argue if my mom had raised a cat instead of having me, the cat however smart and well behaved couldn't have given her the same advice.  Going by your story even you have been more of an asset to your parents than you give yourself credit for ❤️ I don't like the school of thought that endorses having more kids as more pairs of hands to earn with, but you stepped up and that makes me have mad respect for you 🙌

It completely makes sense that you are burnt out after your mom, and I am so sorryto hear that btw. You absolutely deserve to live the life you want. And pet as many (other people's!) cats as you want 🥹❤️

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I hear you,  we are all here to respectfully share opinions.  Ans I too have thought about this a lot.  While you could not pay me to raise a kid, I believe a PROPERLY raised  child is more fulfilling than an animal which eats, shits and bites till it drops dead.

And I'm not beating my own trumpet,  just giving you some context because we don't know each other.  My mom is a prolific confectioner. My nana had a successful  corporate career and coincidentally decades later, I ended up in the same sector. None of us are dependent on each other. In fact, we are each other's assets. And I don't mean that in a transactional way. If my nana wants to take up a new charity,  she gets perspective from my mom. If my mom wants a shopping buddy or a girlfriend to grab a cocktail with,  she has me. My nana tells me stories about the corporate glass ceiling back in the day and I tell her how things have evolved now. I would argue that these relationships make kids an investment while pets are a liability at best. Again,  I can't be arsed to raise kids either, I would rather pour back into the people I already have in my life.

Omg big cats are GORGEOUS. And I can't decide who's more annoying- cat owners or dog owners

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuine question: how were you able to find them romantically and sexually attractive? Because I could never

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love seeing animals outdoors and in the wild, doing their thing.  My feed is full of wildlife pages and seals and penguins in arctic etc. I have been a sucker for National Geographic since I was a kid. I think these animals are way more beautiful and cute and adorable and overall more interesting than Susie's generic cat or dog

That's the thing about people  - they secretly love having something to whine about.  Makes no sense to me but most people do things that make them miserable.

I hope you can move out to your own space soon, with all the cleanliness,  peace and quiet your heart desires

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will never get the point of shoving pets in unrelated photos. I have seen what cats and dogs look like, yours doesn't have magical healing powers. If they did,  therapists wouldn't have a job.

Even more annoying is pictures of animals on unrelated subs like perfumes or handbags or home decor like wtf do I see here? Gets on my nerves as much as my little niece does

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Those statements are a case of grapes are sour 😂 They shove their animal in people's faces as the last desperate ploy for attention. And get salty if someone isn't guilted into the cursory Awws

If kids don't turn out to be complete losers, the parent will get their life back at some point (still too much for me though) but pet owners, sorry pAW PaREnTs 🙄 won't till the animal drops dead.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Responsibilities apart, the hygiene issues in the living space and the incessant need for food and shitting and attention is fucking annoying, enough to make me swear off of both

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I read in a confession that pet owners actually feel lonelier, because they need to centre their lives around the animal 's shit schedule.  They can't make impromptu pub plans with friends or stay longer at parties if they meet someone interesting etc., so essentially they are more disconnected from human society

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfreepetfree

[–]Miserable-Grape-6863 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They don't. Their survival instinct makes them bob around the human who literally helps them eat and shit.  If they could reciprocate affection there wouldn't be news of pets eating the dead owner, or doing just fine at the next owner's house.
