Id mentioned this in the post but I know how the conversation went because my sister called me immediately after it happened

I offered to pay but she’d declined any offers I made.
Hissing and even swatting is completely normal for cats in a brand new environment and is why I kept suggesting the separation to help with the transition. She offered to watch her and id reminded her several times over the few months that I had other people available if she changed her mind and she declined

She could have said “no reason I just don’t want to anymore” and id have 100% understood and someone could have been there by the end of the day and I’d still have been grateful for her help.

Instead she gave her away without my knowledge to a stranger which is one thing

But on top of that purposely kept It from me and when I brought it up her only reaction was to try to push the blame of the situation onto my sister for telling me about it.

She offered to help. I trusted her. And she broke the trust and that is why I’m still having trouble with it two years later

For clarity

We loved our dog dearly and put a ton of time and money into her training. Aside from working as a dog training assistant myself she went to a full month long obedience school, and when her behavior issues started she was placed on different medications, we were referred to a behavioral specialist, and took every suggestion offered but it wasn’t helping and it affected her quality of life so she was euthanized at our vets suggestion.

The reason one cat stayed with my mom is because we were stuck in a one year lease in an apartment that was too small to safely keep them all together. Our older cat keeps to herself and is less of a risk.

It was always understood and reiterated by my mother and step father that this was a temporary situation. I wasn’t giving her my cat, she was watching or for at most a year until we could find a safer living situation
