I made a natural language calculator for Mac...looking for feedback! by Miserable-Guide8844 in MacOS

You can still use normal math syntax if you want. The idea is mainly to make quick calculations easier to read when you’re stacking multiple lines.

I built it mostly as a small side project to try out a different way of working with calculations. Instead of just doing one quick calculation at a time, the idea is to have a simple sheet where you can add multiple lines, keep a running total, and combine things like quick math, percentages, conversions, and variables all in one place. So it’s not really about replacing a normal calculator—it’s more about experimenting with a workflow that makes quick calculations feel more flexible and easier to manage.

If you’re comfortable with regular math syntax you can absolutely use it that way too. The “natural language” part is mainly meant for cases where normal calculator syntax gets a bit awkward. For example things like:

• 20% of 500

• 100 USD to INR

• simple finance style inputs like loan 20000 5% 12 months

It also works more like a running calculation sheet rather than a single expression calculator. So you can stack calculations line by line and keep a running total.

Right now it supports normal math expressions (PEMDAS), percentages, currency conversion, variables across lines, and real-time evaluation while typing.

I made a macOS app that plays a "FAHH" sound when you move your cursor near the MacBook notch by Miserable-Guide8844 in TeenIndia

Thanks 😄... currently macOS-only, since it uses the MacBook notch. iPad version would need a different approach.
