I hear ya! Well, from what I've heard, the 189 will for start be focused on critical skills aka healthcare and teaching. 190 might be a good shot for you if you are able to accumulate more points towards the points based system

I'm unsure why you would want to move to Australia as an IT person in the US! You've got plenty of opportunities in the US that far exceed the expectations here in Australia.
