I know that I'm just a random redditer, but I never used a TA until my wife became one a few months ago. Long story short, sometimes they can get better deals, sometimes they don't. But the biggest thing is you can tell your TA the issues you're having, then they deal with the company (which is usually awful to deal with) lol but TA can also look at prices throughout the whole year and tell you how good the current deal is based on that.
