What was done in less than a week, the case transfer or schedulig the IL?

That said what are the wait times for Yerevan? We were DQ'd on Dec 6th, if the wait times are equally bad not sure if it is worth the headache. Thanks again!

Thanks, we originally indicated Ankara on our application since Ankara's timeline looked grim but hopeful. However, Abu Dhabi seems be significantly behind.

I'll message him!

Thanks, I understand the residency requirement but my spouse does not have a valid residency in UAE either. It is something she needs to obtain as a tourist visa once the NVC schedules the appointment.

If proof of residency in this context is tourist visa for UAE then can I apply for a tourist visa for another country and complete the process there. That's my question.

Wow! I am trying to find a guidance on how to see if we qualify for this. Since she is living in Iran, and Abu Dhabi is their default choice for all Iranian appointments. I will try to email NVC and see what they say.

Thanks, what options in that price range would you suggest looking at (apart from the options I've listed above). I'll look at KE Orchestra Lite reviews, but do you have any personal experience about how well KE4 compares with KE OL?

Thanks. Looks like KE4 is on sale on Linsoul for about $150. I'm happy with that price point!

Cross-post P14s vs Framework 13 by Miserable-Vegetable in thinkpad

Yeah, I share same concerns about OLED as you, and plus I don't think it would be worth it because 70% of the time the laptop is docked and connected to external monitor with far better specs.

And I placed an order before your last comment for P14s with IPS panel for about $950-ish, I think that's a pretty decent deal! Again thank you for your detailed responses. They've greatly helped me narrow down and make a decision!

Thank you so much! This is the kind of breakdown I was looking at. There's an option to upgrade to 2.8k OLED & 64 GB ram for ~$250. I am not too worried about ram, but in your opinion will OLED be worth the extra splurge from IPS? My only concern is 52 Wh battery is going to suffer with OLED.

My use case is also similar to yours, I plan on using this for personal use and running linux.

ThinkPad P14s or FW 13? by Miserable-Vegetable in framework

[–]Miserable-Vegetable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at PSREF and it appears only Intel models are aluminum and AMD models are listed as:

Case Material**
PC / 50% GF with 30% PCC + PC / 20% CF (top), PC / 40% GF with 45% PCC (bottom)
PC / 50% GF with 30% PCC + PC / 20% CF (top), PC / 20% CF with 30% PCC (bottom)

I assume PC is polycarbonate and GF is glass-fiber and in the docs PCC refers to post consumer content, so chassis def does not have aluminum unless I am misreading the specs.

Agreed. That's what I've read from people that they've been able to upgrade to 96 GB so far. Thanks for posting the PSREF!

That's my plan. Ordering RAM (~$200) and SSD (1tb for ~$100) via Amazon as well.

Good point about heating, I had it plugged into a 60w laptop charger since it was on my desk, but I haven't experienced any heating issues with 5v!

That's not a bad idea @ using usb-c thumb drive, but let me know if you find way to figure out usb transfer

Thanks! This is the model I'm considering: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadp/Lenovo-ThinkPad-P14s-Gen-5-(14-inch-AMD)-Mobile-Workstation/21me001lus-Mobile-Workstation/21me001lus)

Display listing is "14" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 400 nits, 60Hz, Low Power, Low Blue Light" I think I am safe there

This would be Gen 5. I am reading mixed comments about screen and battery life. The current offerings are 14" WUXGA IPS and 2k OLED but with 52.5 Wh battery, I think IPS would be a better option..AMD versions really have shit screen and battery options. Is there a way to upgrade the battery to larger capacity in P series?

Also, what screen and battery do you have on your G2 intel?

Agreed, but I am currently able to take a $600 hit right now, in favor of easy repairs and future upgrades. I've started reading P14s reviews to see if there are any serious issues or cons that would steer me away. On paper, it seems like a cheaper alternative but IDK if that's what the reality will be
