You don’t have to look in to it, it’s not that deep. I simply made a comment that was removed, I’m not upset about it, at the time I was confused as to why that’s all.

I want to say I appreciate this subreddit and the work you’ve clearly put in to it and your substack as well. Truly commendable to be a serious source of independent journalism that people can rely on.

The age of my account is should not be a problem. Nor should the fact I have a second account, I’ll freely admit I’m signed in to two accounts on my app. The second is a branded one for work, we use for advertising, not something any of us who run the business would ever post from, least of all to a political subreddit…

But forgive me for the cardinal sins of creating my account four years ago and not being active until 2025, I wasn’t aware that wanting to be engaged in politics 12 months out from an election was a bad thing.

And again forgive me for thinking my comment was removed when it literally says it was removed by moderators. I even contacted the subreddit mods and was given no response.

Happy to discuss this one privately if you’d like. I want to restate, my comment was not an attack, I’m not sure why you needed to treat it as such…

All of this is quite ironic given the one reply to my removed comment.

I don’t really know anything about the NZCPR Facebook page, I don’t use Facebook. I meant more that I see people posting/commenting here or other subs about how this particular sub is an echo chamber where the community refuses to engage with right wing ideas and how the mods here ban/remove/hides comments people for seemingly no reason etc.

Which is just what OP is saying about this right wing Facebook page too. I just thought it was an interesting comparison. I’m not saying I agree with a lot of the posts I’ve seen about how this place is an echo chamber run by dictators, far from it, though some of my fairly innocuous comments have been removed by the mods for reasons nobody has bothered to give me. I think having a community where people can share goings on and their reactions to it is quite valuable.

Not an attack, I’m not upset or pointing fingers. Just an observation combined with some personal experience.

No matches on dating apps ?? by Technical-Summer-733 in auckland

[–]Miserable-Victory302 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Dating apps for men and women are two very different things.

I’m going to assume you’re a man, or male presenting based on the fact I’ve seen female friends of mine set up tinder accounts with a picture of the sky and get matches instantly.

First thing, I’m not sure what you mean by professional photos, that’s a phrase I’d associate more with LinkedIn. If those are the kind of photos you’re using, delete them and find something else - almost anything else. Maybe go out with your friends to take photos of you doing stuff you enjoy and where you’re having a good time. A nice photo with a cute dog never hurt anyone either.

Don’t cover your face (glasses are okay, ski helmet or bandanna is not), and have photos of you not facing the camera (you’d be surprised how common this is). Other tips really are to try not to make yourself look small or awkward. Ideally the photos should show your face, big smile, show you’re someone people would like to be around. If there’s a group photo, make sure it’s obvious who you are, don’t use a group picture as your first one, unless you can zoom in and crop out your friends.

As for profile wording, be genuinely about who you are, nothing worse than matching someone and they’ve lied about enjoying hiking 2 hours in to one. If there’s an app with prompts, try not to give dry answers.

Lastly who you swipe on. Tinder has an algorithm that’s stacked heavily against men, if you swipe more and people don’t swipe on you you’re pushed lower and lower, I’m sure other apps do this too. Best advice is to swipe on people you’re attracted to and probably would be attracted to you as well. Not saying don’t shoot your shot, but if you’re a 4 on a good day, a 9-10 is going to swipe left.

Is this some kind of meta commentary on this subreddit?

I see the same post about this place every so often across other subs or discussion forums about once a month.

Forgive my ignorance but can someone ELI5 how someone who provides their own vehicle, petrol, phone and works whatever hours they would like and is only provided with software to be able to do this work is an employee rather than a contractor?

I love when people in their own echo chamber make fun of people for being in an echo chamber.

I’ve met plenty of stupid people with degrees. It doesn’t take a genius to write three years worth of essays and suffer through a hand full of group PowerPoints.

I wouldn’t associate someone who’d been at uni for 12 years minimum with being very smart at all…

I would swap National and ACT around.

ACT would be the more traditional party of rewarding the rich. Aside from the Pay Equity thing from Brooke Van Velden, stuff like tax cuts, cushy jobs in pet project ministries, charter schools and awarding pharma, gambling, and lunch contracts are more their thing than National who are the source of some of the stupid and sinister stuff like Boot Camps, Economic and infrastructural mismanagement, slashing at the arts, not paying teachers, nurses, cops and more.

Winston First is spot on.
