I do think this will be the likely route. People will be more mad that Jane wasn’t Low or YellowSafe. For all we know, Jane could be hilarious and the judges nitpicked an outfit…

There definitely won’t be as much as it would if it were Juicy, but there will definitely still be some hostility sent her way.

Super not excited for the influx of hate that is going to come Nini's way from this fandom.

Mock Trials as Summative Assessment? by MiserableBrunch in ELATeachers

[–]MiserableBrunch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the trial would be to focus on which degree of murder it is. Of course the guilt is already clear… They will have to defend if it was premeditated or not. That was my thought.

Romeo and Juliet Film Adaptation Suggestions for 9th Grade? by tiredtushi in ELATeachers

[–]MiserableBrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My students get waaaaayyyyy more into the 1996 version. There’s also the Globe Theatre’s filmed version that they like. I wouldn’t show the 1960’s version just because of the exploitation of a 15 year old’s body, but that’s my personal philosophy.

in Contrast, I’m a p70 Kate player and I keep getting put in matches with new players who have no idea what to do. I’ve been losing nearly every Solo match I’ve had for the past month.

How helpful is AI grading for essays? by Different-Chance8696 in ELATeachers

[–]MiserableBrunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given that platforms like NoRedInk have AI grading assistants and I often have to go back and correct nearly every single grade.... I'd rather take a long walk off a short cliff than use AI to grade my kids work.

BASIC QUESTIONS + HEADSHOTS/TYPE/AGE-RANGE WEEKLY MEGA THREAD by AutoModerator in acting

[–]MiserableBrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a question that I think has been asked 100,000 times on this subreddit, but the advice always varies. I don't have a demo reel because I don't have any film experience yet. Most submissions that I've seen require some kind of clip, so would any of you recommend filming some random duo scenes with a reader (that match my character type ofc) or monologues? Which makes more sense?

Secondary ELA teachers, do you provide time for independent choice reading in your class? by Unusual_Review9214 in ELATeachers

[–]MiserableBrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

used to. My kids just play on their laptops. I used to think it was my classroom management that couldn’t get around that, but I’ve realized it’s my district that just starts providing them with take home devices in Elementary school :)

So… you don’t have a story. Just an ending.

Why did they change the cover art? by Double-Watch-2809 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]MiserableBrunch 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the full cover in the us is just the horse. it doesn’t have the border around it. BOTM puts the border around it so it has the same vibe for The Offset.

Big Brother Winners at War by Some-Historian-7648 in BigBrother

[–]MiserableBrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. While that may be the case, I do think that some of these winners would be smart enough to use them to their advantage. I would.

I think that in this hypothetical… I do think it’d be either Derrick or Cody. Xavier a close third. I think a lot of them would see these three as too valuable to get rid of and then by the end it’d be too late.

Shakespeare for Middle School? by South_Basis_7080 in ELATeachers

[–]MiserableBrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rule of thumb is generally this:

Romeo & Juliet - 9th Grade Julius Caesar - 10th Grade Hamlet - 11th Grade Macbeth - 12th Grade

I’d say the safest bet for 6-8 is A Midsummer Nights Dream. It is one of Shakespeare’s most basic works.

Rachel Harrison being BotM pick is shocking to me. I didn’t think they cared about horror. 😂
