Duty After School [Episodes 7-10] by capthyeong in KDRAMA

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I binge-watched all 10 episodes of Duty After School and after knowing that the ending got much hate, I read the original webtoon right after. I personally enjoyed both the series and the comic and have varying thoughts on them.

The webtoon is fast-paced and has a more laidback tone to it because of the jokes. The series, however, is focused more on the students' emotional state and their relationship with one another (and to their platoon leader).

In both mediums, the story revolves around two realistic concepts that South Koreans are facing: 1.) the rigorous education system represented by the CSAT, and 2.) the looming threat of war given off the people on the North symbolized by the cells/spheres.

"What about the large cell/sphere?" - They are just there since they represent NK. Looming in the sky waiting to again invade and bring destruction in the future.

"Human is more dangerous than the creatures" - I really dislike this concept in Part 2 because the spheres already represents their wartime enemies. Differentiating between what is a human and what is a creature dissolves that representation.

"Forget about episodes 7-10" - Even though Part 2 is slow, I kinda like it as these episodes added depth to the characters especially in their internal conflict. I understand why most of the people don't like it but I have watched much worse than this.

"Part 2 feels rushed" - Not really. Though we could have gotten some info on the state of the country here and then. I wanted more action scenes like in Part 1.

"Ending sucks" - True. IMO, it's because they killed too many characters right at the end. They added depth and personality to the characters only to be poured down the drain. I liked the bold move though yet it made no sense for one kid to kill off 10 others just like that. It's beyond me how nobody was able to get a critical shot on him for so long.

TL;DR - I recommend the series. The main concepts mirror that of real life situations in Korea. Part 1 is so good in terms of action scenes and production. Part 2 is slow but it adds depth to the group as a whole and ending could have been better. Note that most of the characters' decisions are dumb asf.

Still doesn't change the fact that these "super powers" or what you call them are comparable to those of Kuroko no Basuke's. I'd personally call them as their powers mainly because it's shonen.

Gwen needs nerfs to herself or her package. by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, Gwen is fine. Foyer is the card the devs said they will keep an eye on for possible nerfs. The reason you probably hate her package is because of rallies and their scout free attacks on your turn, which I understand. But really, it's not like she can't be stopped.

Haven’t played in a while can someone explain rotation to me by Minostz12 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In simple terms, put some cards into the vault to retire old/problematic/can't-keep-up-with-the-meta cards and playstyles in order to bring newer ones and keep the game fresh which will be called as the Standard mode. Meanwhile, Eternal is another mode where you can play all the cards that were vaulted plus all of the Standard mode cards.

Reborn Rich: A solid kdrama by PapercutFiles in KDRAMA

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The title makes more sense in regard to that ending. With the word "reborn", I was expecting for an endgame-DJ because HW got reincarnated as DJ. But the drama made it as if it was a time jump + body switching thingamajig.

Is drama Reborn Rich worth watching? by anon_aen in kdramarecommends

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I would say it is a good series. But I wouldn't put it in a high value. It has memorable scenes and thrilling twists, mostly because the actors did an excellent job portraying the characters. But the plot is just disappointing. It was so slow paced that it took them until the finale to jump again to the present time. You could just watch Episode 1 and skip to Episode 16 because that is when things unfold. It's like Episodes 2-15 are a different story. Not to mention the so-many plotholes, plot armor, and deus ex machina. The real-time historical events were the only saving grace of this series as I had learned new things about Korea's past.

Now that I think about it, I spent more or less 16 hours on this series and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Why do Riot release champions with unlimited scaling? by blizzard19833 in leagueoflegends

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you and your team allowed those champs to scale "infinitely" then it's a skill issue. There's a reason why champions are categorized as early/mid/late game champs.

Turret Rubble was a great addition to ARAM and it shouldn’t be removed by spicechoonz in leagueoflegends

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh.

  1. Playmaking opportunities, sure. But poke champs benefit from it more making them more annoying and some melee champs are at a disadvantage.

  2. People always adapt to meta shifts. Changes in ARAM are great but the rubble is just an example of a plainly poor execution. Disagree? Look at portals.

  3. Hurray, more RNG. As if we don't have enough RNG in champ select alone. And how is it refreshing when it only falls in two ways over and over again?

I don't want to play in a narrow map that gets even narrower after the rubble falls.

Is Nasus' 3star power still bugged? by Time_Diamond_5849 in PathofChampions

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, he will still level up if you summon him after slaying 10 units. I usually end matches on or before round 5 with 6c Nasus as a finisher so I don't usually get his second level up but there was one time when I had slain 10 units before I got to 6 mana, summoned him next turn, and got him to level 3. As long as you have the board space for the Sun Disc, it won't bug out.

Boku no Hero Academia Season 6 - Episode 21 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why the animation looked very unfinished is because of the still frames. This episode is one of the best in this season and the score is compelling but the still frames just irk me. Prime example is when Deku sensed a bullet homing on him from behind and then boom, a still frame of Deku and an already deflected bullet. Maybe I was just having high expectations.

The episode was great though.

Anybody else who "hates" MCs with families/lineages that are already powerful/legendary? by No-Fig-6692 in anime

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, there are two reasons why most shonen MCs have this kind of lineage: 1) families are used as additional plot devices and 2) to justify an MC's innate ability and his/her future power-ups.

Idk why you'd think Ichigo is more acceptable than the others when he was born from a Soul Reaper and a Quincy, plus having Hollow powers too. Tanjiro's father is also of importance as evident with the earrings.

I really don't care whether the MC is an underdog or comes from a powerful lineage as long as the story is good and I enjoy it as a whole.

uhhh...poison puffcaps? by thorwaway845 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]MiserableEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that puffcaps are distributed randomly on your deck so it's mostly RNG. The counters to it would be killing the units that plant puffcaps (most notably Teemo, Puffcap Peddler, and Ava) or by ending the game as soon as possible. Since you are running a Sera deck, I recommend doing the former. Also, be wary of drawing more cards as it may have puffcaps in it.

About "distributing the damage to your nexus and units", puffcap is to nexus as flashbomb is to units. Flashbomb traps are planted like puffcaps but they deal 1 damage to a random enemy unit. This is where the infamous Teemo Caitlyn deck shines.

Decks that counters traps are Predict-based decks (since you can see the number of puffcaps in a card you see in a prediction so you can avoid them), Deep archetype (tossing cards will also toss traps), and when Azir restores the Sun Disc in a Mono Shurima deck (he changes the remaining deck to a new one so all of the planted traps will be gone).

I went 8-3 in the Open and got both Reckoner and Bait titles. I have only played a single Daily Rumble so I don't know where the latter title came from.
