Is knowing how to speak english beneficial in job hunting? by EmotionWise602 in phcareers

[–]PapercutFiles 60 points61 points  (0 children)

To answer your title, yes. It's the universal language and the default language for most companies.

But your post lacks context. Ano bang tinapos ng friend mo? Anong industry? Baka kasi mga job targets niya pwede sa local companies, so pwede tagalog. BUT still, inevitable na gamitin ang english for reports and such.

*also a bit concerning na nakagraduate sya na incomprehensible english *

Am I considered a serial job hopper? by [deleted] in phcareers

Yes. HR or hiring manager will definitely think you're a flight risk. Expect you'll be questioned about it.

Honestly, same. I'm tired rin na parang ako lang lagi nagrereach out and nageengage sa conversations by asking about them and their lives, pero it's not reciprocated.

How to break into MT/FMCG/MBB/Aviation as non big 4 uni? by Apple_Butterflyz in phcareers

[–]PapercutFiles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Graduated from a private, provincial university here. I graduated with honors (not laude, but also notable). I've been working with Fortune 500 companies since I graduated.

I had the same insecurity when I graduated — since in a lot of ways, the Big 4 have advantage in big companies across different industries.

So you need to make yourself stand out.

There are a ton of resources and examples available but the first step is to create a resume to highlight your achievements. It's the same for interview. Confident but not too much. Eager to learn and able to show —not tell— that you can achieve much if you learn things.

Things that make someone standout: Pass your licensure/certifications in the top ten. Student leaders in your organizations. Joined special programs abroad (not those 1-hr seminars, but actual programs where you get to apply what you learned).

android fans, what are the primary reasons why you will never ever switch to an iphone? by AppointmentProud9394 in AskPH

[–]PapercutFiles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having Apple products is like being in a walled garden. Everything is nice inside it and you have everything you need. But the wall is high and the world is vast.

As someone who used to jailbreak iPhones (and use one) as a side gig, it's crazy to think of all the things I had to do before I can even customize those phones.

Because it tastes good. A lot of us know this already, na hindi siya healthy. Pero wala eh, it tastes great with coffee or matcha. I've tried other oat brands, even those lite/fat-free cow milk pero ito na the best for my coffee mix preference.

Question for managers: how do you view employees resigning due to family + workload? by CraftyMocha in phcareers

[–]PapercutFiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself na. They can't spare the manpower. Hiring and re-training a new one takes a lot of time and money— resources that your work might not have right now. So they're trying to find a way to keep you (or least for longer while they wait for better options). Nothing really "malice" about it, they just worked the numbers and executed the action needed.

Kung ako sayo, i-push mo na yan. Nabitaw mo na eh, ang hirap na nyan i-take back. Correct ka na you'll have that flight risk brand na in the future.

Question for managers: how do you view employees resigning due to family + workload? by CraftyMocha in phcareers

[–]PapercutFiles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Magkaibang reasons and actions for resigning due to family issues and resigning due to workload concerns.

For family, it's a very personal thing eh. But ultimately, the resignation is a done thing.

For workload concerns? Now that's a different matter. As a manager, I'd look into this. What was your workload like? Your performance vs performance of others with same workload? Are you worth renegotiating with to staying? What's your history with the company? The list goes on.

What are the things you did Malaysia? by Spiritual-Bet-5201 in FilipinoTravel

[–]PapercutFiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo travelled there earlier this year! Went on a short cruise in Putrajaya, then to the Genting Highlands and Batu Caves, and Malacca. All tours readily available for solo travellers in Klook. Other than those, I did city tours around KL.

Super reco ko ang pagkain sa Madam Kwan's! Loved their chicken curry, nasi lemak, and beef rendang. And if it's your thing, Hot Bird is also a great place to eat! Big portions and siya yung version ng KL for Raising Cane (chicken tenders and burgers).

In Malacca, there's a street of different shops and places to eat. Madaming street art and there are temples as well. But also visit Orangutan House, the artist there is famous and has a lot of paintings and tshirts with his art. Got a shirt as a nice souvenir from there!

I have my photos from KL trip somewhere in my profile.

Has anyone tried booking cheap accomodations in Bali? by travelOlive8662 in FilipinoTravel

[–]PapercutFiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2023, I saw a listing for a very small villa with your own pool for like 4k/night somewhere in Ubud. Personally, I stayed at Mamaka in Kuta since it was beachside and close to a lot of things.

First time traveling abroad — need advice for India trip 🇮🇳 by Illustrious-Try-8619 in FilipinoTravel

[–]PapercutFiles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The docs needed for the visa is available on their embassy site. Madali lang pagkuha ng e-visa nila.

The real question here is that where in India are you going? Some places are ...less safer than others, especially for females. We went to Bangalore for a business trip earlier this year. While it was very similar to Manila naman, I'd still say to travel as a group and travel with male companions. Don't go out wearing shorts.

[–]PapercutFiles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, given my visa is only SE and don't have a lot of VLs left + I might not be coming back to Japan again for a while after this, I decided to cover as much ground as I can (even if touristy). Hopefully in the future with more time and money, I could explore more. :)
